Hi world wide friends
I have just found someone here in South Africa selling a Sprint Galaxy Tab privately at a good price that they bought in the US. This device is obviously designed to be used in the US and therefore, from what I can understand, is locked and I would have no 3G functionality here in South Africa.

Can you guys help, will I be able to unlock it so that I could use a local network sim card in it?
Will it be locked down completely and only be good as a door stop?
Should I steer clear and rather save up to buy from a reputable retailer?
Thanks
Andrew

In the US, the Galaxy Tab for Sprint and Verizon does not support SIM card. Only the Tabs for ATT and T-Mobile use SIMs. However, you can use that Tab for Wi-Fi use at home, office....pls don't use it as a door stop, I can give you a very nice door stop if you can ship that Galaxy Tab to me.... ;))))

Yes, Sprint, Verizon, Bell Mobility in Canada, and Telus Mobility in Canada use CDMA I thought that S Africa uses GSM networks? That my only leave you with wifi capabilities.
