Swapping or Customizing on-screen Menu

Hi, everyone. Anyone know whether it's possible to customize the status bar/menu at the bottom of the display? I'm right-handed and hold the tablet in my left hand. I have to reach across the display to hit the Home, Back, Menu and any other softkeys on the bottom left. It would be much more convenient to tap them if they were on the bottom right -- but, of course, that's where the tim, battery and notifications are displayed. It would be great to swap sides for the two key groups.

Is that possible? I'm using a Samsung Galaxy 8.9, running Android 3.1, not rooted. Thanks!
