We have word that the Archos Gamepad will be coming to U.S. outlets sometime in February, and will likely retail for a very affordable $169.99. The tablet has been out in Europe for a bit now, and is doing pretty well there. Overall what you get is a fairly robust 7-Inch Android tablet with a game controller built-in to the device and some gaming specific software as well. Here's a quote with a few more details on specs and functionality,

The GamePad’s buttons work ‘out of the box’ with around 1,000 well-known games. In case your favorite isn’t one of those, fret not for there’s solution. Archos has a button-mapping tool shipping preinstalled on the tablet, and that will allow you to pair any button to any virtual in-game control.

The Archos GamePad has a 7-inch 1024×600 touchscreen, a dual-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, 8 GB of built-in storage expandable via microSD, 1 GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, and a G sensor. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Does this look like a gaming device you could get behind despite the coming launch of the OUYA, the GameStick and the NVIDIA Shield?

The NVIDIA promises to be very cool and very expensive, but this sounds like it will have a great shot at success in the US given the price point.
