Toshiba is getting ready to launch three new Android tablets from their Excite lineup later in the year. They are called the Excite Pure, Excite Pro, and Excite Write. The first one is designed to be wallet friendly for a 10-inch device, while the other two follow Toshiba's tradition of offering top-tier devices with high-end specs. Here's a breakdown for each one:

  • 1GB DDR3 memory
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 3MP rear camera
  • Stereo speakers with DTS Premium Voice Pro
  • Built-in Micro HDMI®, Micro USB ports and a Micro SD slot
Excite Pro - (High-end Productivity Tab - $499)
  • 10.1-inch PixelPure display (2560 x 1600)

For folks who are or will be in the market for a premium tab, one of these could really fit the bill. What do you guys think?

The budget-friendly Excite Pure could be my next tablet. I'll have to see the reviews, once it comes out.

I think part of it will depend upon how much Toshiba mucks with the stock Android distribution. IME, and from everything I've read, more evils than benefits are caused by manufacturers and TelComs messing with Android.

Exactly my thoughts. That's why I'm waiting for the new Nexus 7.

The tablet most likely will be unrootable. Toshiba locks their tablets down, very unlikely any custom recoveries or roms.
