Transferring apps (games) via SD card

I've just bought my son a new tablet. I've been trying to transfer his games from the old one (which was a Hudl 2) onto the new one and I just can't seem to work out how to do it.

I can find them in the explorer and in the APKInstaller, but it's as if they're just not there.

Am I missing a program that I need?

The reason that I wanted to transfer the games was so that he did not lose any of his progress on them.

If it helps, the new tablet is a 10inch Cello. I can find the exact tablet and specs if needs be.

What's missing is the data associated with the app, (game), which you do not have access too. The only way you could access the data would be to first root the tablet and both would need to be rooted.

The easy, simple answer is that what you are doing won't work as you would expect/hope..

The only other possibility would be if the game itself had a way to export/import the data.
