Unable to download ebooks - Nextbook 7

Hello there, I purchased a nextbook 7 for my daughter who LOVES all every book the lay her eyes on; however, she has been unsuccessful with downloading ebooks even the free one from Kobo. If any one has experiences that problem please let me know. Also the connection is extremely ssslllooowwwwwww. Tried to download the firmware but was unable to save it or open it. Once again please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
