unable to obtain ip address

Hi,
my iconia a500 is having problems getting the above,
i have tried resetting it whilst it searches for the ip address but it still comes back
obtaining ip address,
i also run a laptop and desk top from my router these do not have any problems connecting,
any suggestions would be grateful,
i live in spain
router supplied by Telefonica and all set up by engineer no password supplied.
