v701 screen cracked, can be hacked?

Well, my Onda experienced a suicide, it jumped from my bed to the floor and the screen is now useless. Given the fact that it's useless, i was wondering if i could dissasemble it, encase it in a "box" (seriously, a card board box) extend the ports with the addition of a usb hub and HDMI port, hack the battery so it can be permanently connected to the power and use it as an Android "desktop", what do you think guys? completely out of line on this idea?
