Video playback stops!

This may be a stupid question, but I am new to the Android Tablet world.

When I play a video on my A500, playback stops as soon as I switch to another application/window. For example, I am watching a video in one browser window, and using Facebook in another browser window. I want the video to continue playing while I am switching windows, but playback always stops. Any way to prevent this?

I doubt that is possible with any browser I've seen.

Its highly undesirable to have background tabs or other apps chewing up your resources and bandwidth on a small battery powered device.
