I dont know what 5000- 10000 converts to but the nexus 7 is a super awesome tablet for the price. Or if you want to save some extra cash go with a used/refurbished Nook Tablet and then put Android on it.

I will recommend you to go for lighter tablets for your son as he is 10 years old. I think you should go for iball or accer tablets. It would be kind of smart bet, I mean it is simple to use, have lovely design, cool user controls, brilliant touch and have many other cool features.
