wi-fi problem

Hi all

I am having a problem getting connected to my wi-fi. I had to do a factory reset on my router. I cannot remember my password to reconnect the tablet.
Is it the wep encription key I have set on my router
I have tried all this but just comes up saying obtaining IP address but nothing happens apart from the screen going blank and then coming back on at the start up page.

Will i need to do a factory reset

I did a factory reset on my tablet and followed the setup procedure, all went ok. put my WEP key in and the wi-fi worked straight away, now working but dont know why it would not work when doing the same thing in the wi-fi settings. Strange
