Greetings all,
I'm looking for advice on how to get my tablet back up and running.
I have a Thrive 10" 32G tablet (AT105-T1032) that I got from Woot (refurbished)
back in January.
Now it won't boot past the initial "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen. Hangs
there forever.
I can boot into the recovery kernel and clear the cache and restore factory
defaults but it does not recover. Cold-boot hangs forever as does the normal
boot.
I am hoping perhaps I can install a new image from an external device since it
seems to operate in the recovery kernel OK. (Where to get such an image?)
It is out of warranty of course and Toshiba wants $119 to even look at it. I'm
not inclined to throw good money after bad when there are plenty of Samsung and
Asus tablets out there for not much more.
Here's some background:
Two or three times it went into the problem where it demands (non-existant)
password and needs to be reset to factory defaults. Many others have reported
this, and the factory reset gets it back up though you lose everything.
A couple months ago we upgraded to ICS. This is the first problem since the
upgrade.
I have tried removing the battery and the CMOS battery overnight. No dice.
I am wondering if the boot process is waiting for a response from one of the
internal hardware modules such as the wifi interface and the response never
comes.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Hate to be out nearly $400...!
Thanks.
