I recently purchased a used Viewsonic g tablet from a friend. It is completely stock: 1.2 bootloader rom and Android 2.2
I want to upgrade the Android to at least 2.3 Gingerbread but not sure I need to go any further than that. From what I've read elsewhere (including, I think, some on this site), 3.0 Honeycomb loses some camera functionality, etc. If I am mistaken about that, please don't hesitate to correct me - tablets and non-Microsoft OS's are way outside my area of knowledge.
I downloaded several of the roms listed here, but I realized they are for bootloader 1.1. I presume these will be very problematic with bootloader 1.2. Again, correct me if needed.
The bottom line is that I am looking for an Android OS load/ROM of at least Gingerbread. I will always choose stability and fully functional bits like the cameras/etc over newer OS/rom versions. With that in mind, I thank you in advance for your advice.
