Amazon Free App of the Day

At 4 1/2 stars and only 21 MB, this might be the best FAOTD offering in a long while.

Orbital is the 7/16 app.

Orbital is a 1-thumb experience with a simple goal: score points by destroying orbs. A simple puzzle game for all with beautiful visual effects, it can be played in short sessions and is highly addictive.

Not sure what to say about this one. It looks like a Space Invaders with orbs, except the orbs turn into obstacles when you blow them up. Some reviewers had trouble with the controls.

Templar Assault RPG Elite is the 7/17 app.

Command your elite squad of Templar Knights in close-quarters tactical combat against the terror of the alien. Fighting in the tight spaces of starcraft, ancient mines, forgotten temples, and derelict space ships your Templars will face aliens, xenoforms, forgotten evils, ancient constructs, pirates and mad cultists.

This one looks pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to check it out much. My tablet is downloading the new OS

Aces Gin Rummy Pro is the 7/18 app.

If you’re new to Gin Rummy, don’t worry. The EASY difficulty setting is a great way to ease into the game. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, HARD will have you planning every move and really watching the discards. Whatever your skill level, our adjustable difficulty system has the right setting for you.

What level did it update to?

4.4.2. Only difference I can see so far is the drop down task bar is split, which isn't an improvement. It was better before. Do we have a thread for the difference between Kit-Kat and Jellybean?

Now if I could only remember how to play the game, this looks like a really good one!

Ice Rage: Hockey is the 7/19 app.

Ice Rage brings the classic 8-bit hockey experience to the 21st century! We dare you to take on John Gore, or challenge your friend in the most intense single-device multiplayer you've ever experienced.

This looks like an interesting game, and I was going to download it, even with In-App Purchases. But the file size is too big and the permissions too many. Common complaints of the reviewers, were that the controls lag and it crashes back to the desktop.

It's Done! is the 7/20 app.

Here’s how it works: Fifteen minutes after you leave the house, you think, “Did I turn off the stove?” Rather than run back home to check, simply look at your It’s Done! app. The check mark you made when you turned off the stove confirms it’s done. If there’s no check-mark, you better go back. It’s Done! just saved your day from disaster.

Unlike complicated calendar or task apps, It’s Done! is quick and easy, letting you instantly recall every routine task you performed. It’s Done! is the perfect app for anyone who’s ever forgotten anything. It’s also ideal for those suffer with short-term memory loss due to brain injury, dementia, or other medical-related conditions.

It's Done! can even notify others by text or email that a task is done. Rest easy that mom took her medicine or the kids locked the door.
