Well, believe it or not, thats exactly why HP and Walmart have recently joined hands. The worlds leading PC maker, though technically not very experienced in the Android war, seems to have already mastered the low-cost tablet game, introducing the $89 Mesquite 7-incher.
The Mesquite will reportedly sell in Walmart brick and mortar locations across the US of A for a measly 24 hours on November 29, after which it should disappear with no trace. Sounds pretty far-fetched to me, especially if the 7-incher is to garner media interest (and it probably will).
The other side of the coin is that maybe HP cant afford to charge 90 measly bucks for the Mesquite all the time. Specifically, they might be working at a loss here, or at best for a minuscule profit margin, since the tab aint a pushover, with pre-loaded Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8 GB built-in storage, microSD support and Medfield-based 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 CPU.
In any case, provided youre in the market for a compact on-the-go computing machine with a sensible price point, its hard to believe you can do better than this, so dont even think about waiting to see if the HP Mesquite is to extend its reach post-Black Friday. Buy it, heck, buy more than one and gift or sell them on eBay.
