could android assistant be affecting my ability to watch iplayer?

I've been nosing around at other folks and their probs with ics etc. I was reading that task killers , android assistant & other apps may not be necessary with newer tabs & may also be causing some problems like apps crashing or poor wifi etc. I'm wondering whether I need android assistant now on my new Tablets (sanei n90) whereas before it was an essential on my wm8650 tab. Any one got any ideas? I'm baffled as to why I can't watch iplayer or itv player & so far no one seems to have an answer to my questions.
