desperate pensioner needs help to unlock touch tablet screen

I bought myself a touch tablet for christmas and have hardy used it.Bought from maplin it is a MID 7" android (made in china) when I used it I was advised to use the pattern screen to lock it..problem is I cant now remember the pattern - I have sold the tablet!!! so I wanted to put it back to factory settings - cant do that until I unlock the screen..there is no information in the instruction book and I cant find anything online...urgent help would be much appreciated....please note this is NOT a phone....

unfortunately there is no "forget pattern " option on screen -just try again in 30 seconds all the time when I get it wrong!!!
