external hdd to tablet

hi guys i have the acer a500 android here with me at the airport and i got some movies on my hdd that i want to watch on my tablet, i dint want to run the movies over my hdd using extra power and such is bad anyone know how to transfer between these two devices thank you

If the hdd is powered (ie not powered by usb), you can connect it to tablet's usb (in host mode) and copy the files to the internal storage using a file manager like ES File Explorer. If it's self-powered the you will need a powered hub between both tablet and hdd. Also, it will only work if the hdd is formated as FAT32, as it Android doesn't have support to NTFS as far as I know.
