So I've looked and looked and I can't find anything that is straight forward. My nook is 1.1 auto-nooted 3.0.0. Any advice on how to install .APK files?

1) Make sure on-device install is checked:

From XDA:

If you used autonooter to root your NookColor

On the device is an app called NookColor Tools. Run it, and ensure that the checkbox for on-device install is checked. If it's already checked, uncheck and re-check it to make sure that it's actually set. Exit the app and reboot your nook. You should now be able to sideload apps.

2) install a file manager like astro or root explorer.. navigate to the file.. long press and install!

Yes sometimes you have un-check and re-check the "enable non-market" apps in Nook Color Tools a couple times then reboot. In Astro I usually single quick press on apk and select "open app manager" then install.

Thanks revenge for the info. Got it to work. Just had to find the file and that was the hardest part since I don't really know the structure yet.
