Is anyone trying to compile the kernel from Lenovo's source?

I'm still working on the guide, http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/lenovo-ideatab-a2109/51856-how-compile-deploy-kernel.html. Has anyone tried it? Does it look too complicated? Is it too complicated? Or does it just not seem worth the effort? I'm starting to add the hows and whys of some useful activities you can do once you are capable of compiling the kernel.
