These are great. Plus Jellybean is just plain faster, smoother, more buttery. Add to that all the custom roms available for it, and you can pretty much do anything you want with your device.

This is true in most respects.
As long as you can unlock your bootloaders.

Acer's for example are VERY HARD to unlock.
I have an Iconia A1-810 that at least for the moment can't be Flashed with a custom ROM, if you try it you will Brick It BIG TIME!!!!!
Although there are ways to root the device it is VERY RISKY because these Iconia's have a Boot Loop problem, and if not done correctly will for all intents and purpose Brick Your tablet with no way of fixing them, Short of sending them back into Acer for repair.

IMHO at the moment if your intending to root the tablet you are thinking about getting, Do some research first on the subject and be sure it has been done with relative success.
