When it comes to squirrels it is strictly don't ask, don't tell.

Just a picture I took from my yard, then stylized with Paper Artist on my Galaxy Note 10.1

I really don't consider it cold until the lake freezes over, and then the fun really starts keeping a path through the ice so we can get to the mainland. Of course this is Washington State, so there are only six weeks or so of really challenging weather. It's a pretty comfortable climate overall.

Got down to about 10 degrees last night. No wind so it was a nice morning for a walk. We have about 2" of snow on the ground.

There is a detective series based in your neck of the woods, but I can't remember the author.

It went back up to 80 here today, it's going to be beach tomorrow ....this is the best time of the year in miami...still hot but comfortable at night. Enjoy your snow JB, I like snow only in pictures!

You are very welcome, I had just got Paper Artist and spend a lot of time turning perfectly good pictures into fake art :)

I have better pictures but here is one of Mt. St. Helens from the back yard, taken earlier this year. You can imagine how interesting it was when it erupted.

It was awesome. Shortly after the eruption, I flew from Chicago to Portland and got to see it from the air. The UAL pilot actually banked the plane so we'd have a good view of it.

Yeah, we were spared any direct effects here, even being this close, but what a show! Unfortunately the Toutle river, and Hollywood Gorge in particular to me, were not so lucky. The landscape in my neck of the woods changed severely. It was the ash though that caused the real problems. If you got off a main artery like I5, where the going was already slow enough, it was a nightmare. A car ahead of you on the road meant instant whiteout conditions, snow skiers probably can sympathize, and all you could do was slow to a stop, hope you stayed on the road, and wait for it to settle.
I feel very lucky to live where I do and having had the opportunity to witness the majesty of mother nature first hand.

You are very lucky to be there! (Except for the times you have to clear the ice.)

Woah....you are lucky, you live on an island which must be beautiful judging from your front and back views and I remember you said there are very few people living there, which is great too. Do people come on vacation there?

There are four families, eight people altogether, that live permanently on the island, the rest come primarily in the summer. This would probably explain why - when the lake freezes over we have to keep a path open to get our boats through for mail, supplies and I guess even work occasionally. Really though this is a short period of time in the winter and a lot of fun!
This is actually a much bigger lake than these pictures show, but the property on the mainland where I park is pretty close.
