What ROM are you running? For autonootered 2.1 you can hold the "n" button then quickly tap the - Vol button for a screen shot.

If I had to guess he is running one of the gingerbread 2.3 roms, where all of us are still searching for anyway to take a screen shot. I'm guessing b/c he said he tried "shootme" app, which is one of the best screencap apps available and works very well with all the b&n software and android 2.2 roms.
