Looking for Dell Venue 8 Review

Sony's new Tap 11 Windows tablet uses the N-Trig digitizer and reviews have been very positive unlike its implementation on earlier devices by HTC and Lenovo.

Still no joy. Likely won't see the device shipped until November 29 (Black Friday), if we're to believe the folks at Dell. I have my doubts, though.

Good tablet. Fast web browsing and battery last about 10 hr. Some games lag, but I didn't buy it for that. My aunt played bingo blitz for 2 hr and it warmed a bit. I think for this price, I'm pretty happy! Bought from dell, it came last Friday. You guys don't lose hope :)

LOL, lose hope @ $180 I never even considered it, no way is this tablet even close to that price tag, at $130 I may give it a look. @ the real price of $100 I might buy one.

You're definitely a hard one to please, vampirefo. Even at $180, is there really another 8-inch brand-name tablet with comparable specs that matches the price, aside from the Acer Iconia A1?

I have to admit 8" tablets usually come at a premium. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7" goes for $179 yet the Tab 3 8" is around $279. I'm not sure how the specs compare but it will be interesting to see if Dell hits the sweet spot with the consumer at that price.

If they want my money they will price it in my range. Dell will sell more tablets priced around$100 then they will proceed around $200.

What most people need is a competent machine capable of doing what most people do with their tablets. Read books, download movies, surf facebook and the web and play simple games.
This device does all that for considerably less than anything else out there.
One more thing I would point out that hasn't been mentioned, yet. The upgrade to 32gb is only $20.

This is hopefully going to be a trend. I was looking at the 8" lenovo yoga and the 32gig was $30 more than the 16gig version. Apple kind of set the standard with a ridiculous $100 price tag to double the storage.

When the Venue 8 was initially announced back in October, the company website set the ship date at November 1st. Since then, that date has changed several times and the latest information is that the tablet will start shipping on December 5th.

Apparently, Newegg.com has been selling the new budget tablet, all month. The first customer review is from 11/1/2013, so it appears that Newegg.com may have shipped to customers as early as three weeks ago. The tablet is currently listed as in stock?

According to the latest info from Intel, if you buy a PC at Costco for $600 or more, you can get a $180 (regular price) Dell Venue 8 tablet for $99 on Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

Congratulations on your new purchase. Here, in Canada, the Dell site won't have any available till January 14 for $180cdn.
