problem with gtab screen and nvflash

so i was given a free gtab and was told i can have it if i can fix it so here i am trying to fix it.problem is it wont turn on and iv done all the resetting things i was told to do on xda forums except for getting into apx.i cant get into apx because the screen wont turn on even when i do the button combo.i manage to semi get into it via shorting out the k1 connectors next to the reset button.i installed the drivers from xda forums and then went to nvflash.once i get to nvflash it stops at "waiting for bootloader to initialize" and just does nothing.the screen doesn't turn on for some reason.i believe its a software issue and not a hardware issue.im using the stock rom.does anyone have any idea what to do?
