Since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launched almost two months ago, there have been many questions as to when a smaller version will be released.
The wait seems to be coming to an end. UK users can pre-order the smaller brother of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 via the Amazon UK site listed at a price of £605.34. The listing shows that the tablet packs a 3G modem inside and has an in-stock date of August 12.
With 8.9 inches, Sammy is clearly aiming for not just the right size, but the features to go with. This is something the company failed to do with the original Galaxy Tab. Like our own Andrew Kameka said in March, The original Galaxy Tab is great for portability but lacks the features that make the larger 10.1 device appealing. The 8.9 seeks to merge those two desires by being compact but feature-rich. I totally agree with his premise. The device is 8.6 mm thin, 465 grams in weight, and has a 6,000 mAh battery that supoprts up to 10 hours of video playback, and a platform built specifically for tablets.
Whenever it hits the US, will you be picking up the smaller sibling of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or will you just wait it out for something else? Unfortunately, there is no word as to when the Tab 8.9 will launch stateside.
