updated from tnt 1.1 to1.2 only get a desk top no apps

Hello: Just downloaded an updated to 1.2 something and now I get a new desk top with time, date, wifi, battery level, and sound and an open lock symbol in the bottom right hand corner -- but no apps at all including the browser--and no response to the google search button. I have rebooted a couple of times but have had no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Jim

DUH---I discovered that if I extended the lock symbol upward my desk top would return. As you might have surmised I am new at this.. Jim
