EDIT: Dropped BK Softhome in favor of SmartBar:

Has a suite of nice features that can be added individually to the notification bar:

- Home
- Show Recent Apps: 4x3 grid (like what you get with a long-press of Home on Android phone)
- TaskManager: can be used as a task-killer but a long-press and "App detail..." takes you to the Application Info menu (to clear cache/defaults)!
- Quick Settings: a number of shortcuts/toggles for battery, drive info, wifi, etc.

^That BK app looks promising, should have left the link for others. I've been pretty happy with the Zeam notifications on the bottom which balloons out on screen when pressed. The typical top to bottom pull down notification bar found on android now, I think may be too big for opening and closing on the NC's 7" screen.

I liked the way BK Softhome worked simply and cleanly. Just turned out that SmartBar had the same functionality plus lots of other soft keys!

Observation: I'd say 98% of all apps work, as in install properly and about 15% of the apps that do install are mis-sized. Not sure but I believe the apps just need updating by adding the larger resolution configuration to their programs.

Any chance anybody's had any luck with QuickOffice? -- Or, the corollary question: does anybody have an office suite they'd recommend for the NC? I work with a debate team and having the nook work as a file-viewing unit with my dropbox would be friggin' sweet! Minor editing capabilities would be even better.

For clarification, I don't have my NC yet due to budget issues, but the next time I get paid, my new nook is gonna be rooted so fast it'll make kudzu jealous...

And, by the way, thanks to everyone who's already looked into apps and rooting and all that. People like me get to stand on the shoulders of giants like you and I, for one, appreciate it.
