@Paul
The system dumps have already been supplied for the MID9742 and MID7042. Both were rooted this weekend. (Thanks to @Steev)
Most of the flashing instructions can be found at the beginning of page one of this thread.

Also, see @Patriotswrath detailed instructions on page 12 of this thread.

Good Luck

Cyrius - Does your MID9742 still power on? , Go into recovery mode?

--- If your MID9742 does not power on, dont freak-out yet. Just Respond.

@patriotswrath: I use the steev's one (post [ROM] Factory firmware images for Coby Generation 3 devices)

@RedDeer:
my tablet status
- power on (unplugged): starts with Coby logo then stucks on android splash screen.
- power on + vol- + back buttons (unplugged): starts in recovery mode, recovery menu OK (after /!\ red warning)
- LiveSuit + USB cable+ holding key- + power button : first time, double USB driver setup , unknown device message from LiveSuit. Then, always unknown device warning (same status in windows device manager)

EDIT : it works !!! managed to flash the custom 9742 firmware (from WIN7-32).
Once all drivers installed (*) and LiveSuit running, if nothing happens, press the hw reset button in order to get the start flashing message (otherwise Livesuit freezes and waits for some event).
Before, your PC must be cleaned : I use usbdeview and DriveCleanup to check and clear all usb stuff (+ PC reboot)
(*) Without LiveSuit, install the driver : hold vol+ button and plug the tablet. Once installed (no warning), unplug it.
Thanks to everyone who participate to this thread. I feel a little bit less alone on this side of Atlantic Ocean...

Sorry but I still have the unkown device issue. Why 2 device driver setting ? It s a little bit better (with LiveSuitPack_v1.07) since one device seems to be well set (VID & PID ids) but not operational (43 or 10 code error). The other one is "unknown device". Don't quite understand the way which allows the PC to flash firmware on tablet : specific handshake mechanism between tablet and pc ? What about the recovery mode : is it possible to flash from external sd card ? (in this case, I think the new firmware/image should be well signed)

Edit :
$device.png
the 2nd device seems to be OK. The 1st one is KO : "device cannot start (code 10)"

EDIT : it works. see my previous message.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who participated in this project and "THE WAY TOO MUCH DETAILED" post RedDeer did. The only difference with that is when flashing finished only appeared the battery symbol, but didn´t restart. I waited 5 minutes and when I turned it on was flashed. I have my 9742 rooted and working
