Amazon Free App of the Day

Unfortunately it will not be here in time for this free app.

Be sure to d/l the app to your own tablet. If you register her Nook to your GMail account you'll be able to d/l the app to it at any time, because you'll already own it. If not, you'll at least be able to go through the book with her on your tablet when you get together with her.

Or you could just get the apk off of yours and save it on hers :)

The primary reason most people have for using a bootable SD card is because they don't want to mess up their Nook or their warranty. The Nook Color is virtually impossible to mess up to the point it can't be fixed (because you can always boot from any bootable SD card) and can easily be restored to factory condition for warranty purposes.

Granddaughter's Color Nook is going to be 300 miles away at her house and she and/or her parents are the ones who'll most likely have to restore it if there's a problem. So, I would second the decision to go with the bootable card. They should have no problem removing the card. Restoring the Nook to factory condition after flashing it, not so sure.

Well CM7 is very stable but if an issue happens (which they do, apps, updates, wifi, etc.) it would have to be dealt with as any issue. I'm not sure how just removing the card and going back to a stock Nook is really a solution? If you want an Android tablet that means sometimes dealing with Android issues. The beauty of the NC is that you can easily restore, replace, update clean clear or do anything you want to it. It is an open book (no-pun intended) that is easily fixed thanks to the hard work done by developers.

This is actually in stark contrast to major tablet manufacturers who get things wrong, refuse to acknowledge the issues or even if they do may take sometime to roll out a solution or may just force you to live with it. You have just about zero options whereas the Nook Color has been highly developed, is supported by us Nook Nuts ;) and has all of the tools available at a root level to fix whatever is broken :)

@ JB In addition to your normal job testing apps, keep an eye on http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/nook/18783-b-n-free-friday-books.html from now on. They've offered children's books occasionally in the past and may again. If, unlike my wife:(, she's willing to share "her" tablet, her parents may enjoy reading books on it too. Also, check out her local library to see if they have any books she can download to her tablet.

Okay, I have subscribed to it. You guys are making me dizzy. Think I need a beer. The CM7 card makes the Color Nook an Android? No rooting, maybe side loading?

Edit: Just to be clear it actually needs to be a microSD card.

That I knew. Sorry I didn't clarify. Am I reading this right, I could turn it into a CM7 card?

Sudoku4ever Plus is the 6/9 app.

Sudoku4ever by 1gravity offers an unlimited number of puzzles, eight difficulty levels from Very Easy to Nightmare, a world-class hint engine, game statistics and global high scores.

Let's Bowl 2: High Roller is the 6/10 app.

Be the 10-pin King wherever you are! A perfect follow-up to "Let's Bowl," "Let's Bowl 2: High Roller" is the runaway bowling hit of 2011 and 2012! These apps have over 350,000 installs in the Let's Bowl series.

The following statement in the description is a very sleezy way of disclosing the fact this app contains in-app purchasing. "upgrading your ball or alley" can require paying cash to do so.

Earn bowling bucks every time you roll to earn points and score big and reward yourself by upgrading your ball or alley in our all new Pro Shop!

Finely-tuned physics mean this simulation is easy to play but impossible to master, just like the real thing! It's endless entertainment and challenge right at your fingertips.

Another one that "allows" you to buy additional content. I have Let's Bowl Deluxe and there is nothing special about it.

Another one you earned your pay for JB. I read the description very carefully, but you don't find out the "upgrading" costs actual cash until you install it. I've edited my post to reflect that.

That is strange because it is the very first sentence in the description when I opened the appstore.

That is strange, I still can't find it anywhere in the description. User comments though, they weren't pleased.
