ClockworkMod Recovery with Touch Support for Allwinner A10-based Tablet

I have Treq A10C n on Gingerbread 2.3.4. Can you tell me how I suppose to do to boot into CWM? I've already tried holding power + Vol up, and it didn't success

hello again

i cant for the life of me figure out what to hold with power to boot into cwmod, ill keep trying and if i find it ill let you know

also i found out that while inside cwmod recovery power is the back button, menu is the down button, and back is used to select an item.

i ended up trying both p76ti and Treq A10C in kkromkit and they both seem to work the same, so no probs there.

thank you again for porting this, it just made my tablet 400x more fun lol

Actually, I was expecting that by choosing a10c, you should have a working touchscreen for CWM. Apparently not. If you choose p76ti, touchscreen will definitely not be working.

The CWM from my rootkit is not compatible with Treq A10c(see previous posts). You have to figure out how to get into recovery by trying out all the buttons. I wont be able to tell you as I dont have the a10c.

Hello, I was reading over your post about CWM on Allwinner A-10 based tablets. I am a member at freaktab.com and we are working on the Polaroid PMID701c tablet, which is actually just a rebranded Chinese tablet. We've already taken it apart and verified that it does have the Allwinner A-10 (1ghz) and has 800x480 resolution. Would http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...touch-support-allwinner-a10-based-tablet.html work for us, or can this somehow run CWM?

Buttons for pmid701c is already working if you choose a10c. I will be adding an option for it soon.

I have added your touchscreen driver. Do try the touch control again. v1.22 is in the first post.

I just installed 1.22, was able to select Polaroid PMID701c from the list, but still no touchscreen support in CWM. Also, do you have a way to specify which hardware buttons can be pressed from OFF to boot CWM? The Button Identify tool in CWM works and shows the numbers assigned to each hardware button

Ok, will need to do more check on the touch issue. The recovery boot sequence seem to be able to be change but has to modified the boot portion of the rom. Short answer is no, I dont have a way to do it since there is no need for me to spend time looking at it. Your other option is to try out pressing different buttons combination.

installed kkromkit 1.22a and rebooted to cwmod, touched the 4 buttons and there were no messages displayed on the screen, i appreciate your continued interest into helping us, we would be lost without you lol

Same here, still no response or code output from touch interface unfortunately. And I too thank you for all your effort in helping us with this. Has there been any luck in figuring out a hardware button combo to boot CWM directly? I swear I've tried every imaginable combination......

Thanks for testing. Let me figure out what else I can do to find out whats wrong.

Based on my limited understanding, I suspect that its the MENU key. What you need to do is to hold on the to MENU key and then power on the tablet. Hold the MENU for at least 4 seconds. If it dont work the first time, try again.

I am sorry. ICS ROM is not supported as they use a different img format from that of gingerbread. I may in the future when I work on CM9 but not at the moment.

I have tried many times every possible combination... any other ideas? Without a hard boot i have no brick insurance lol:eek:

It looks to me like there are several bootloaders that cascade through each other. When you hit the menu (or any other button for that matter) on the PMID (and many other similar tablets) it exits the initial BROM into a routine caled FEL. FEL has a very limited amout of things it can do, though it can accept some commands over the USB, and download the new image file from the PC using the LiveSuite program. Which would be great except we currently dont have a good image for it (though we are hoping to soon, going to have to fly without a net for that one). There are mentions of being able to boot from an SD card as well, which actually would be great too even if all it did was to tell the tablet to boot into recovery.
A couple good resourses are here:
a10 boot process
Hack A10 devices - eLinux.org

Another way that you could have done it if you boot up the tablet and then do a reboot, then hold down the menu key and see if get into recovery/cwm. Hold immediately after you issue the reboot and hold for at leat 4 sec after the screen turn black.

Yes, a10 devices should be able to enter FEL(for livesuit) and should also be able to get into recovery mode. Accordingly, if you have a proper boot image on the external sdcard, apparently the tablet will use that image to boot up though I dont find the need to validate if this is really true.
