Hoping someone can help us out, I can't sleep and wanted to do some reading =/

If you are using CWM recovery 3.0.0.5 and you rooted with autonooter 3.0, you must update the CWM recovery to 3.0.1. See OP. Take you sd card out and copy the 3.0.1 zip to sd card, install to NC, boot, update from CWM recovery. Reboot

or if this is too complicated, just remove CWM recovery all together to restore the stock recovery and use the NC as normal.

when you say copy the zip, do I extract the files? or just put the whole zip into the sd card? do i have to use a certain program to write these onto the SD card or simply just move the .zip files unextracted to the SD Card?

You just have to move the .zip

CWR itself extracts them.

Alright well I downloaded cwmr_3.0.1.0, I moved into the SD Card. Popped out the Sd card from laptop, placed it in nook.
I rebooted the system. Went down to apply update from sdcard, Install /sdcard/update.zip -- no such file or directory, installation aborted...
now what did i do wrong or did not do?

EDIT:
Well I found a place where it said to update from .zip file on sd card, I applied the update of 3.01.0 and it said install from sd card complete. Went back, chose reboot system now.... and waiting to see the results.......
ok now its in v3.01.0 clockwork mod recovery...
im hitting reboot system now again and its going into the device normally :) it seems! but taking a while, still stuck on the android screen with the little green guy... errrr finally went through, but it's kind of laggy, slower than usual? how come?

Could be you imagination.

...or it's just the first boot after a new recovery install.

Welcome.
Common problem when you perform a backup with CWM recovery and you rooted using autonooter 3.0. It messes up the boot.image file and never lets you boot out of CWM recovery.
OP was changed to new CWM rom manger and CWM recovery.

What you need to do:
If you DO NOT have the latest CWM rom manger 3.0.1.2:
-Turn off NC
-Remove SD card
-Load SD card to any card reader
-Download and copy to SD card, removecwr.zip file from HERE
-Download and copy to SD card, new CWM recovery 3.0.1.0: http://muffinworld.net/android/nookc...mr_3.0.1.0.zip
-Re-insert the SD card to the NC
-Boot to CWM recovery
-Install from sd zip: removecwr.zip (this will remove CWM recovert 3.0.0.5 and restore stock recovery)
-Reboot as normal
-Go to market and install latest version of CWM Rom Manager 3.0.1.2 or .3
-Reboot
-Reboot to CWM recovery
-Install from sd zip: CWM recovery 3.0.1 zip
-Reboot
-Enjoy.

If you do have the latest CWM rom manger 3.0.1.2:
-Turn off NC
-Remove SD card
-Load SD card to any card reader
-Download and copy to SD card, new CWM recovery 3.0.1.0: http://muffinworld.net/android/nookc...mr_3.0.1.0.zip
-Re-insert the SD card to the NC
-Boot to CWM recovery
-Install from sd zip: CWM recovery 3.0.1 zip
-Reboot
-Enjoy.

rico/all,

New to site, been playing with rooted stock NC for about 2 weeks. All well so for until the CWR looping boot issue addressed many times here. I had B&N 1.1 so used autonooter 3.0. That is why I had the reboot loop issue as mentioned above in thread. So here is where I am:

- I used the CWR Removal directions (Thanks again for that) and have the rooted stock rom back up. However, it appeared to still show CWR still installed (from market).
- I could go into Rom mgr from app drawer as well
- Therefore I followed 2nd half of instructions quoted above (already have latest CWR installed). I downloaded the CWR recovery 3.0.1 and placed on sd, no problem.
- Booted up and selected the Rom mgr and hit 'boot into recovery'
- The boot failed with error. I did hard reboot into normal NC.
- I have uninstalled CWR via market and reinstalled just to be sure I have latest/greatest working CWR.

This is where my questions come in. With the state I am in now, should I follow the 2nd half of the instructions above to update recovery mod or should I be going back to OP and following other instructions? If I follow the above, should I then go back into OP and finish up anything else (i.e. new flash and nandroid backup)? I am not looking to install custom ROM yet, just wanting CWR to be there for recovery and backups and have it ready to play with ROM's as they get fleshed even more.

Have spent hours reading this thread, very informative and much thanks to all those experts helping us noobs :). I hopefully put all the details you need to help provide an answer as I have seen one off general questions be asked without the details being provided...if you do need to know more though let me know.

Thanks again all!!

Welcome! I want to make sure you understand a couple items first:

Do not confuse CWR (ClockWork Recovery) with RM (ROM Manager). They are both produced by the same folks and they work together, but they are separate items. CWR is recovery software that is installed into the boot partition area and is accessed only when specifically called on. It can be accessed by holding the "n" button down during a normal power on procedure or by some apps that allow for rebooting into recovery. RM is an app that is installed via Market and shows up in the app drawer. RM is an app that interfaces with CWR for rom installation, updating, and rom backup and restore items. The backup/restore function will only work if you have CWR flashed to your device.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER.

Currently, the latest version of CWR is v3.0.1.0 and RM is v3.0.1.3

There are some known bugs with stock 1.1.0(autonooter 3) and CWR (pre 3.0.0.6 versions). So your best path from a freshly rooted 1.1.0 is to download the flashable CWR v3.0.1.0 and install that via a bootable SD card (which also comes in a v3.0.1.0 now as well). This will install the latest CWR to your NC and should play nice with your 1.1.0 B&N. Once you have that flashed, you can download and install ROM Manager from the Market again and all should be working as intended. Since you manually installed CWR (which is neccessary right now because RM doesn't properly flash the recovery kernel when it tries to install the latest CWR - waiting on this to be fixed) you do NOT have to do the 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' from ROM Manager step.

Link to flashable CWR v3.0.1.0 zip file (this should be placed whole onto the above bootable SD and installed via CWR)

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

I blieve you are saying you have CWM ROM Manager installed but you no longer have the CWR Recovery installed. If that is the case you can't follow the second hald of the instructions because you have no CWR to boo into. You would need to flash the CWR from the ROM manager.

If that is not the case and you can boot into some version of CWR then you can follow the second half of the instructions to flash the new CWR from the zip file.

*Good job faceman beat me too it and very thorough to boot (pun intented).
