[ROM] Watery Kyros v1.2b Custom Firmware for MID7015

Hello,

Yes it is the same .29 kernel source that has been available...the resources that were released are incomplete and a waste of time. I am very curious as to the progress of your work on the .35 kernel?

Cheers

billquinn: if people are providing actual information (i.e. can be changed from launcher but not gallery, etc), it doesn't bother me as much. but just to say "this doesn't work" after someone else has already mentioned it is useless.

the Gallery issue is because the Camera.apk crashed. i removed it in my sandbox, but i'm doing more stuff than i should at once, and i have broken some other stuff.. i am working on 1.2a.. i think i'm just going to unzip 1.2, remove Camera.apk, replace Music.apk, etc. as a quick fix.

btw, that wallpaper is from zedge. if you use adb, you can pull framework-res.apk from the tablet and get res/drawable/default_background.jpg out of it. (i think that's the filename.. the underscore might be wrong.)

yes, i did forget to change the shell.. it was late and my wife was wanting me to come to bed.

Take your time, the important parts work perfectly. My wife is ecstatic with the calendar. And most importantly her suduku game works flawlessly.

Between this and the other thread about rooting it worked great! I did have to use lower case su to get superuser access. I appreciate your work on this. Now to figure out what games will work on it.

What exactly is this? I'm really a n00b when it comes to this sort of thing. I have mine rooted with Z4 mod and the Clockwork mod...can I also use this? As far as I see it looks like it just makes more room for icons? Is there any other benefit to having this on my 7015?

It's a custom build of the os with some of the coby bits left in. yes, you can use this. It wil help with the force close at boot issues and has been reported to make the tablet more responsive.

stargiss: I had the same setup like yours and I started using the Watery 1.1 ROM firmware. I will never go back to the original firmware (rooted or not). This one is 100% better and more responsive. Thanks for the great work.

I went through, and didn't see any camera.apk installed, but I am having the same issue. Great ROM BTW

You'll need to just replace Gallery.apk and Music.apk with the packages from coby's update.

Description:

Changes in v1.2:
1. All system apk's except Browser, Settings, SettingsProvider, and non-Google/AOSP apk's are built from source by me.
2. Contacts works.
3. Account and Sync Settings present
4. Wifi signal icon changed.

Changes in v1.1:
1. Cosmetic framework changes.
2. Calender with working sync (tested on my tablet).
3. Live Wallpapers moved to /sdcard/watery-optional-apks/
4. 3D Gallery changed back to stock Gallery per request.
5. DalvikVM heap increased to 48M
6. All apk's zipaligned.
7. System shell (/system/bin/sh) has been replaced with bash.

Changes in v1.0c:
1. Disabled Dalvik VM JIT Compiler due to stability issues.

Changes in v1.0b:
1. su permissions have been fixed.
2. Aldiko and other Market apps have been removed.
3. 3D Gallery has replaced the stock Gallery.
4. YouTube updated to the xda backport version.
5. GenieWidget.apk (News and Weather) has been removed.
6. xaueious' optimized libwebcore.so has replace the stock webkit lib.
7. LauncherPro is now the default launcher.
8. The Dalvik JIT compiler has been enabled. <--- This causes breakage.
9. Clockworkmod Recovery will replace the stock recovery if you use update.zip. (someone please test this since I haven't used the stock recovery since I installed the 7015a update.)
10. AndroidTablets.net app preinstalled. :D

Here it is. The first non-Coby ROM for the MID7015/MID7015A (same thing, different versions).

The custom status bar icons are from stewartchamp's Watermark'D theme for Ultimate Droid.

gapps preinstalled with the useless (maps, goggles, street view) ones removed. some other cruft deleted.

boot.img from the original update was used for this, so ro.secure is set to 0. I've also added clockworkmod recovery to the zip and update-script.

/system/xbin and /system/bin were copied with no overwrite from the original update.

Root tools preinstalled.

LCD Density is 200 in build.prop.

As usual, if you break your device, it's not my fault. (i.e. I'm not responsible for your decisions.)

Install process with Clockworkmod Recovery:

You must have clockwork recovery installed in order to install this firmware.
This ROM formats both the system and data partitions.

Download link:
watery-kyros-v1.2.zip

Place this file in the root of your sdcard.

1. Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery
2. Select Backup and Restore.
3. Select Backup
4. Press the silver Back button to get back to the main menu.
5. Select Wipe data/factory reset.
6. Select Install zip from sdcard
7. Select Choose zip from sdcard
8. Select the Watery Kyros update file you downloaded.
9. Select reboot now.

It will take a while for the first boot. You'll need to skip the Setup Wizard so you can turn on wifi. To add your Google account after that, just try to use a Google app.
what happened to music it doesn't work says force close when opened

Ya...I'm going to do it I think but I think I'll wait until l_n gets the music issue resolved first. Unless I sell this one and get the 7026 before that happens. I really want the 1026 but don't want to spend the extra $$. Plus I kinda like this 7" size. Small enough to drop into my jacket pocket but big enough to see everything just fine.

It was posted that on Amazon they selling for about $260... I am looking into how much they will be but i don't know if i will be able to beat that price... They will be alot better ones coming with QUADcore later this year so the news ones out now will be alot cheaper ( maybe) :O)

For mobility this seems to be the sweat size I would like a 10" to use more for work, Better for customers to see ...

lol i messed this up

stargiss I was trying to post it up but its to big to post and i can't/don't know how to send it thru a PM... l_n maybe you can repost 1.1 for now.

Also i tried this zip and had the same problems as others... I just restored to my backup and went back to 1.1 .... Mainly due to not understanding to much about reinstalling the apks from 1.1 and putting them into 1.2...
A question for you, If i unstall these apks and i go thru my file managers can I install the apks from 1.1 that way or do i need to go thru adb? If i can do it this way then i'll renstall ...

going to try it this was .... Let you know if it works...
