Synrgic Dreambook W7

Hey Guys, question, can your Dreambooks W7 able to get your location via Wifi/3G only (GPS is off). Like for example in Google Maps, my position/location can only be found when GPS is on. Unlike in an Ipod touch (no gps), it can get your position via ip address only.

Thanks

I cannot connect in Google maps, but I install "AUREA GPS" is a very good gps app and work perfect in dreambook

Whitout GPS i don't have Google maps. At this moment i'm not using the 3G.
The Aurea gps i can't find in the store??

I'm looking for the V24 for HD 104 on rapidshare or any other site? The chinese site will not download at my home desktop.

Hi, I have a Dreambook W7 and would like to know if anybody is having problems with the SD card slot. This is my second W7 tablet and they both will not read from a SD/SDHC card because it does not connect when fully inserted and lid closed. Thanks

Are you 100% sure it is fully inserted, I need to push it with a sharp tool to get it deep enougt so it "clicks" into position and get locked, fingers or nails are not enought.

The lid can easily be closed even if the card is not deep in enought

I have to use a small screwdriver to push the sd card all the way in till it clicks. To release the card i us the same screwdriver: push then the card unlocks and can be removed from the slot.

This is the so-called A-GPS, or assisted GPS, that narrows the location using 3g (fast and innacturate) and then uses GPS to fine-tune location (slower, very accurate). Doesn't work with mine either, even having location given by wifi/data networks enabled (Settings/Location and Security/Use wireless networks). For comparision, my Blackberry finds location with a radius of 1000 meters in less than a second. In less than 30, it locks position with GPS. Dreambook takes about 3-5 minutes to lock position, since there is no A-GPS to help.

Google Maps works with my Dreambook, but location is never remembered, and initial location is always 0º E, 0º N, somewhere in the coast of Africa (the screen shows only blue water. Don't know if this would make some people think Google Maps is not working on their units). After a few minutes, it starts showing the right location.

yeah, almost everything works fine, 4square, facebook check-in, latitude, etc. but only with GPS running. It doesn't work with wifi/3g connections only. Kinda sucks coz even my old Nokia E71 and ipod touch can know my location with wifi/3g only, that I dont need to go outside under a sky-view to get a GPS signal.

*sigh*

Hello,

Q: is it correct that the V25-HD104 contains these files:

Mapname : 115br_u_1
$-outDir
$instDir
$pluginDir
HTML
Icocache
skin
Thumbnailcache

This is from the downloadsite of Synrgic but the site is all Chinese so i just clicked on what i asumed to be the download link???
And if this is correct there is no bootimg.tgz and update.zip files anymore??
Grtzz

I think that MFG stuff is only for those who kinda bricked their DB. From what I understand is, through Windows, you can access your device and can copy firmware\system files from it. So you would not need to bother with it, just update to V24 directly.
my dreambook still bricked, even I use MFG tool, theres no device detected when it connected to pc, I've been follow steps at the chinese site tutorial to do that..been
tried with windows xp, in windows explorer show a unmounted storage drive, dunno how to mounting it.
maybe could mount it in linux, but I'm didn't try it yet.

You mast first install the drivers so win. xp recognise the tablet as a device.
I've tried step by step as the HOWTO's document from synrgic site, but still got same problem, my device didnt recognised as imx5, but just as "android phone".
I worried about myd device, maybe it is not genuine of "dreambook" such as someone said at the beginning of this topic. I realy give up to make my device up :)
if anyone have same "dreambook w7" like mine, would you like to share the information about "real hardware" of yours, I think its not freescale base.
I attached some screenshot about my problems.

How did you end up bricking it? Can you still get to the Android Recovery Menu? press Back + Power + Home button at the same time (unplugged).

Dont wory i have the same tablet you must install the drivers you will find them in the mfg tool in drivers folder! But if you want to use mfg tools you must first pres the ''wipe boot for mfg'' at the recovery utility and then reboot see the how to instructions http://www.synrgic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=111&Itemid=211&lang=en
