Synrgic Dreambook W7

Dont wory i have the same tablet you must install the drivers you will find them in the mfg tool in drivers folder! But if you want to use mfg tools you must first pres the ''wipe boot for mfg'' at the recovery utility and then reboot see the how to instructions - English Dreambook w7 ROM Refresh Course
I did, but the driver did not recognized any hardware of it, I've been wipe everything including wipe boot mfg.
How did you end up bricking it? Can you still get to the Android Recovery Menu? press Back + Power + Home button at the same time (unplugged).
No it cannot boot to recovery mode, stuck at android logo as shown at my attachment previously.

Bugshee, your problem is you have not yet read the instructions on the Synrgic site for mfg refresh - not that it is particularly easy to read... I have to say here that it has taken me three days to get sorted since initially wiping everything on instructions from Daniel at Synrgic. Only after I had spent a many hours faffing did it become clear that if you have an OS upwards of XP you ain't going nowhere... so I finally dug out the old GT8000 laptop and went to work on this problem.

First off, make sure your W7 is either fully charged or (better) plugged into the mains charger.

Unzip the V22 for mfg package to your XP desktop (Virtual XP will not do, beg steal or borrow a machine running XP native)

Plug your bricked W7 into the usb port and hold in the reset button for maybe 5 seconds - or until the new software wizard pops up. Point the wizard to the drivers folder in the mfgtools-rel-ext4-et1000v104 folder the unzip package created on your desktop. Once the tablet is installed we can move on.

Run the MfgTool in the above folder and it should find your MX device straight away... (if not then hit the reset button again for a few seconds (even if it is not turned on) and things should happen. It's important that you install the device initially with the supplied drivers.).

Then it's a case of hitting the Start button and waiting/praying... you get the single Linux penguin and begin to think it's all going pear-shaped again but let the thing finish and you *will* soon have a rebooted W7.

At this point you should promise yourself to never, EVER, press the mfg wipe option in the reboot menu again, then go install the V25 update from the Synrgic site... forget all that acrobatic button-pressing though... just go to Settings/Privacy and hit the System auto update (from SD Card) - you *did* unzip the two update files to your SD card first, right?

Ok, I just do whats your advice above, native windows XP fresh installed, plug USB cable and press reset button about 5 minutes, but nothing appears on my desktop, none.. except I pressing power button, so there's appeared new hardware notified called "android phone".
I remember when I was wipes everythings, aspec wipe boot for mfg, I'm flashing update firmware without reboot before, so that's why my tablet recognised as android phone on XP, Because it still have system files inside. imho

Right then. Firstly, why press the reset button for so long, the computer should note new hardware after a few seconds. When I was having troubles with Windows Ultimate and the mfg tool sometimes I could get to the Penguin and sometimes the Android. This was determined by how the W7 had been shut down - if you hold the back/home/power buttons (note the *back* button rather than the menu) and then also press the rest button for a count of 4 seconds at the same time, you should be good to go for plugging in the usb, hit the reset again for a count of 4 and the hardware wizard should pop up.

Look in your device manager - if you have an ELVIS item in there then you need to hold in the reset button again.

... and make sure there is no SD card in the slot, or any SIM card.

... hang on - if it says you have an android phone then the inand must have the system image on it...

Yep, no SIM no SDCARD, it says an android phone, when hardware wizard appears (by pressing power button).
Ehehehe, dunno how to erase data on inand, because it unmounted drive.. poor me... :)

You have to hold the back/home/power and reset buttons for maybe 5 seconds.

Bet you are nowhere near South Norfolk!

You haven't tried this:
1. Charge the tablet
2. remove SD and SIM
3. press reset button for ~3 seconds
4. Connect mini USB (not micro) to a computer
5. press back+home+power

This worked for me twice, and may indicate you have the wrong version of firmware.

Is anyone using Ubuntu on their pc and able to connect to their Dreambook with it via either USB or bluetooth? If so How?

Worked as usual with USB, using Kubuntu. I never tried bluetooth. It opens two <null><null> usb devices, one for internal storage and one for SD card. I had by distraction connected mine to micro USB instead of mini USB, and this obviously did not work.

Thanks Felipe. Yes i see them too in Disc Utility in 11.04 and can see them at /dev/disc but I cannot open them or see any of the files. So I am unable to do anything with them.

I'm new here so I'll say "Hi" to everyone first, so Hi everyone Lol.

I was looking around the net (primarily eBay) for a 7" tablet that I could use as a phone and came across the Dreambook. On the face of it, it looks like it will fit the bill quite nicely but, despite extra research and reading through this entire thread, I still can't find the answer to a question I have which I'm hoping someone here can answer.

It states that it can be used as a phone, but will I be able to just put it next to my ear, like a normal phone and make a call? Some tablets I have seen (like the Commtiva N700 for example) can do calls too, but require you to use a Bluetooth headset.

TIA.
