The One 'Do I Buy This', 'What Do I Buy', 'I'm Looking For' Thread

1) what you will be using the tablet for?
Mainly for surfing the web, checking email, reading e-books, maybe watching videos. Would be nice to have GPS, Adobe Flash, access to Google Play store. A nice screen resolution would be nice, to be able to read outside occasionally.

2) how much you are willing to spend
Prefer cheaper, but high quality. Nothing over $300

3) if you have an idea, what the size of the tablet should be
7 inches would work

4) how much you know about Android, or just whether or not you are computer literate

Computer literate, currently own a dying ipod touch and a imac. The new ipad mini, just is not pocketable or in my price range at this time.
5) Please list your location somewhere.
NC

I have currently looked at the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Nexus 7, and some of the Anoli 7 inches. Don't know much about the chinese build quality. Nexus 7 looks good, but the reviews on the build quality ( screens breaking, pixilation issues, etc) are debatable.

Thanks!

I'm new to the whole tablet game, but I have had an iPhone 4 for some time and like the way Apple products function but simply do not have the cash to spring for an iPad for a first tablet. I've done some research and I know I want a tablet that is 7" or larger, has a capacitive screen, and preferably a camera as well. I would like to be able to surf the web, download some apps, watch videos (mainly youtube), listen to music and other small tasks. Not too concerned about gaming with this tablet, but I would like to be able to expand the memory and update the operating system. I have been looking at some cheaper tablets such as the Coby Kryos, Pandigital, and some other "no name" tablets. I want something that won't crash on me and I would like to stay under $100 for my first tablet, so please give me any suggestions of what you think may be best for my needs. Thank you!

if anyone can suggest a tablet that would be great, thanks for looking and any replies :)

1) what you will be using the tablet for. list any features you need, such as g-sensor, gps, bluetooth, Adobe Flash, or any specific apps
2) how much you are willing to spend
3) if you have an idea, what the size of the tablet should be
4) how much you know about Android, or just whether or not you are computer literate
5) Please list your location somewhere. (You should really include it in your profile, by the way)

a) read pdfs, run applications which will connect to my server and grab data from database, browse youtube, facebook, local newspapers, internet, etc.
I need g-sensor, wifi, flash, etc, no need for bluetooth or 3g, I am not sure about camera, yes and no... not that important currently, would be nice if it has front camera though. I am interested if its possible to make it work with multiple accounts, guest/admin, admin (root) to have all permissions and guest only what I specify like you can install applications but you can't change some settings or delete some applications.
b) I don't know how much I am willing to spend cause this is first time I am buying something like this and I can't tell which model with satisfy my basic needs, the cheapest the possible that will have basic functions and long time battery. I would like ~100$ models so in case it gets stolen I can easily replace it. I am planing to purchase whosale after its all done.
c) I would like to be 9" or 10.1" so I can read and browse net w/o any problems
d) I am new to android and I have no clue about tablets or tablet computers, I am computer literate and will understand most if not all technical info, specifications you present me but as I said I am completely new to it so I can judge which one is better or best...
e) my location is southern Europe

I would like someone to introduce me into Android development so I can look into it?
How to secure tablets from stealing?
How long does battery usually last?
I found a seller on Alibaba, site Shenzhen Goldstar Technology Co., Ltd. - Tablet PC, Power Bank, LCD Display offering me tablets for 63$ a pcs when ordering 20pcs+ or 80$ 1 sample pcs, looks good and satisfying but I don't how will it perform... Does anyone have any experience with their models?
JSD-F900AB(9 inch): (Hot!)

9 inch + Android 4.0+1G ram+8G HDD+ Wi-Fi + 3G +G-sensor+ Camera+ HD video
display +3D games etc.

Bulk: USD 63/pc
Sample: USD 80/pc

I think that's this one but I can't be sure cause I seller didn't send me much details...

Picture from email...

Multiple accounts? I see that's available in Android 4.2 but I don't know how to upgrade or do any changes to android since I am still new to all of this. I still need permission and guest option. (found this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme&hl=en but has only option for accounts like new android software)

I am familiar with Linux and I know Android is using Unix based system and terminal is not stranger to me. I have been working for past couple of years on CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu servers but nothing advance, just setting basic web servers and their maintenance... But I am sure I would be able to understand most instructions you send me...

Thank you in advance for all your help :)

- - - - -
I got quotation this morning so this is the attached file. Can someone tell me if this is any good?
I will request quotation for all of their suggested tablets cause seems they are false advertising or really bad at organizing their sales information...

- - - - -
Added more attachments for models they sell...
Can't add attachment for Goldstar JSD-RK976G, seems like limit is 6 files...
Here is link for this last failed pdf upload http://www.sendspace.com/file/h2zzne
And this is the link for all 6 pdf files zipped in one file http://www.sendspace.com/file/lihw1f

Any help is appreciated :)

Using tablet for home use and personal, games and email and things like that, searching the web.
Would love to have bluetooth, Micro SD card reader, Adobe flash, g sensor.
about 300 to 400 dollors
either 7 inch or 10 inch depending what is available.
Do not know about android but very computer literate and learn anything quick

Well I looked around this thread and couldn't find much of an answer to what I am looking for that is recent enough to be relevant.
I have looked all over the web for different ones and have found many with the exact same features and different prices.
One example would be the gpad16 (Gpad F35 Android 4.0.4 Tablet PC with 9 inch WVGA Screen Dual Cameras 1.0GHz 8GB For Sale - Gadgetsdealer.com) vs many of the tablets found on newegg or other sites.
Due to this I was wondering if anyone had any information about the gpad brands or could give me a reccomendation to a good reliable tablet.

Specs:
Price: The more inexpensive the better. I was hoping for close to 100, I could go higher, but for my intended uses, this is preferable.
Use: University (so things like a note taking program (word) and such), Stock exchange, netflix, music, movies, entertainment
Size: Not too picky, probably 7-10"
Features: hdmi out, SD expandable memory (32g atleast), flash compatible, g sensor would be nice, android 4.0 preferably, netflix compatible, multi touch, gps would be nice (even google maps app), bluetooth
The starting hdd is not very important considering I have a 32g SD card.
I would like to be able to play android games (nothing too fancy)
I would like a camera on front and back (not required on back, but preferable) Also want to be able to use pdf files/ebooks, preferably long battery life (5+ hours) and built in mic.
The ram/cpu are not a big deal so long as it runs pretty quick and the HDD is not much of a concern considering I have a 32g microSD/SSD

So pretty much a tablet netbook (considering I want the bluetooth for possible keyboard and integration with other devices as I am a techie of sorts and could use something smaller than my large 15" 5lb laptop.
Also if you know of a cheap one that can run netflix/email please list that too. Buying one for a friend who want's one just for netflix. Probably around $50-$80.

I have found a few around $80 that has most of what I want minus the bluetooth, but not sure how good they are compared to others. Or atleast how reliable they are.

Hi guys, I need some buying advice for an Android Tablet.

I intend to try to use it as a vehicle GPS unit but at the same time have access to the internet to look up different things.
To make things simple and because I have already asked the same questions on other sites, let me just say that I know
there are car gps’s and all that but I have reasons to try to go a different route.

So, here’s what I want and don’t need:

I prefer a bigger screen between 8.something and 10” or so.

I have to have Bluetooth UNLESS someone here tells me that I can buy some dongle that let’s me communicate with Bluetooth
devices in BOTH directions as I want to have a Bluetooth keyboard, possibly a Bluetooth external camera (or wifi) and I want it to
talk to the Bluetooth enabled car stereo so that I can hear the driving/map directions on the car speakers. IF this is doable with a dongle, then please let me know.

I prefer it to have GPS but I can buy an external GPS antenna. Needless to say, the more stuff that’s built in, the better.

Some card of memory card slot and it should handle at least 16 gigs on the card.

Any size usb port

I would like an HDMI port but not a must.

I want a bright, sharp/crisp screen with good saturation. I hate flat and washed out colors and I would like a decent viewing angle.

I have looked at the Galaxy Note 10.1 and it seems perfect, however, I’m leery about buying a Samsung as I have had TWO HORRIBLE
tech support experiences where they took around 2 months or more EACH time to fix problems with a printer.

I also don’t have very good experience with Asus as they have never responded to any support request I’ve had.

I do NOT play games

I don’t care about Netflix

I don’t plan on watching movies a lot

The only reason I would even care about possibly having a good camera (facing AWAY from me) would be for the Augmented Reality Navigation
options as can be seen in the video on this page. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.route66.maps5&feature=search_result

I would LOVE to be able to do the pen input like the Galaxy Note.

I don’t mind getting a Chinese tablet but I’m worried about service and support as shipping is expensive and takes time.

I have no problem with refurbished products but again, I want to be able to at least buy warranty.

I don't have much experience with android other than using it occasionally (VERY seldom) on my phone.

I am in the Charlotte, NC area and although I was going to go under $300 bucks, I can spend more for the right tablet.

If someone has something suitable used, I might be interested ONLY if I can get warranty and I DO like to trade for things.

Any advice is appreciated and please, post links if you have any.

Thanks

George

Hi everyone :)
So, I'm also looking for my first tablet but I'm not sure which one is the best for me (of course I'm not ;) )
Ok, here's what I need:

What is really important for me is the screen. I would like to show pictures of miniature arts to other people, so I need a good resolution, nice colours and a good contrast.
Now when I check the tablets according to their resolution, I will find that the iPad 4th gen has the best resolution among all of them. Further I'ver heard, that the iPad has in general the best screen of all tablets... Well, I'm not that much in this apple stuff, so I would prefer an Android solution if there is a good one around. I've seen, that the nexus 10 coming up soon will have an even better resolution. Is it worth waiting for it? The size I'm looking for is actually around 10''.

Further, what I really need on my tablet is to edit and show powerpoint presentations. Now, I've tried Kingsoft Office on my smartphone, but there are some issues: Some slides are not visualized correctly, and animations do not work. Is there any better software solution than Kingsoft office working on android? Does anybody know if there would be a better solution for the iPad?

An other important point is the possibility to add a keyboard, which can also be used as a screenprotector. So it should be as portable as possible in the end.

So this is basically all I need. Of course, Internet an so on, but all this stuff is not significant.

The price is not important.

thanks in advance
cheers ebi

- At least 10"
- Doesn't necessarily have to be Android
- Price not terribly important

Thanks!

After doing researches for a week now i'm frustrated so decide to seek help from other.

My requirements:
watch videos mostly avi and mkv
read pdf files
read comics cbr files
web browsing
like to play some cool games

specs that i'm looking for:
1ghz processor
1 gb ram
good grade gpu
i don't mind internal or external if it can hold 8gb storage
1024 x 600 resolution multi touch capacitive touch screen with IPS
good WiFi reception

My budget : 153 USD

I did my homework and these are the options that i preferred first.

Google nexus 7 price tag is $199 but only in the US
Amazon kindle fire HD "
Amazon kindle fire price tag is $159 but only in the US
nook HD price tag is $199 but only in the US
google playbook price tag is $149 but only in the US

Above mentioned tablets are to be sold in ebay but they are for higher prices.
so i have left out with no alternatives other than Chinese tablets
this one took my eye.

ainol novo flame $166 + free shipping it has everything that i need. so i did a little Google on it and found out that displays on some tablets don't work after couple of days.
