The One 'Do I Buy This', 'What Do I Buy', 'I'm Looking For' Thread

Hi,

I am new to tablets but looking for two.

Firstly one for the wife, 10" with a budget of £180 for internet browsing, photos, video maybe download some cool apps etc.. I have spotted the archos 101 g9 for this money with android 3.2 which I understand can be upgraded to 4.0 easily. £166 from amazon. Seems a good option but what do you think?

The secon one is for my young boys, aged 4 1/2 and 2 1/2. pretty much the same thing but was looking at the archos 7 g2 at about £70. but runs android 2.3. Is this going to be ok and upgradable with the software to download apps easily? I dont really want a kiddy tablet as they handle my nokia N8 easily enough.

Any comment on my choice? Are these good prices or do I chance it and wait til closer to christmas??

Many thanks

Daniel

I would like a tablet with a really good display.
One that takes front and back pictures.
One that has a slot for a micro sd card.
32gbs of storage.
One that has a snap on keyboard.
I will pay up to $600.
I actually bought 3 different models from 3 different manufacturers in the past month and have returned 2. I'm on my third one and think I probably should have kept the second one.
My second one was the Asus Trasnformer infinity pad. I liked it except the display wasn't what I thought it would be plus the auto brightness wouldn't work.
I was in a store with a big display of ipads and decided to try one. The thing that impressed me the most was the display so I took back the transformer and bought an ipad.
Yes, the display is great but the ease of use is not, at least for what I want to do with it.
I'd like to be able to copy some of my pictures and videos to the tablet or other people's pictures but Apple doesn't make it very easy so now I'm thinking of returning it and either buying the Asus Transformer again or perhaps someone's suggestion.
Maybe I need to sacrifice the display for ease of use.

Im now beetween pipo max m1, pipo m2, pipo m3, momo11 speed and yuandao n90.

What you can say about those tablets? The manufacturer, the build quality, wifi signal, battery life... One more thing, i can connect a keypad to the tablet? And cases are easy to find? What you think is the best choice overall? My use will be mainly for college, read pdf, take notes, surf on internet. Essencially that, and sometimes play games, view movies, skype and stuff..

Alright i hope you can help me choose

Sorry for the english and thanks

Any opinions on a 7 or 8" tablet with REAR CAMERA, entry level, $100-$200, preferably <$159. Yes this limits my choices.
I want something reliable for foreign travel. I live in USA. A 3 Mpix rear camera or better would be great for travel pics.

Options so far:

Blackberry Playbook: detractions: no skype (still?), is microSD for memory xpansion? charging issues for some? wifi only

And the new Lenovo A2107: detractions: single core processor, currently avail. 512 Mb RAM, & just 2 Mpix rear cam., currently wifi only

Has anyone heard a release date for the 3G version of the Lenovo A2107.

Lenovo is saying 512 Mb RAM is wifi only model.
Lenovo's generic spec page says: Dual SIM: WCDMA/GSM+GSM, WiFi and 3G

I'm told no tablet acts as a phone other than voip.
If I got a 3G or any SIM tablet could I use skype for local calling say in India if I had a data plan?

Thank You!

Hi. I'm looking for something for my 7 year old for Christmas. I used to be pretty computer literate, then I became a mom and all that knowledge in my brain got replaced with mom stuff and I can no longer keep up lol. She will be basically just playing kid games, watching movies, and maybe listening to a little music. I'd like for it to meet her needs, but I'd like to keep it as close to $100-ish as I can, because no matter how hard she tries, at some point it will be covered with peanut butter fingerprints and/or dropped. Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

You have lots choices at that price

Using tablet for home use and personal, games and email and things like that, searching the web.
Would love to have bluetooth, Micro SD card reader, Adobe flash, g sensor.
about 300 to 400 dollors
either 7 inch or 10 inch depending what is available.
Do not know about android but very computer literate and learn anything quick
United states Virginia

Seems like no one is answering questions on this forum anymore. I got about 15 answers in the 3 weeks it took for me to get nothing here on a few different sites. Don't waste your time guys.

Those looking for decent tablets at a cheap price look into the momo tablets. Most of them have hdmi out, bluetooth, and dual core cpu.
I found a momo7 for about $120. Nice 7in tablet with good speed and front/back camera with the hdmi, bluetooth, dual core 1.6 cpu, 1g ram, and 16g storage with SD slot.
Ployer Momo7 Speed 7 Inch IPS Android Tablet PC Dual Camera WIFI HDMI 16GB

Those considering the nexus7 remember that it has no expandable memory or hdmi. Two things which were crucial for my requirements. Its a good machine, but for $200 and not having expandable memory, that just wasn't for me.

Hello to all :)
I am new to the tablet world, but I want to get acquainted.
I want to buy a new tablet with probably 7-10" cheaply (100-120$ +-10$) for surfing, movies and music for my mom mostly, but I may occasionally use it for games and skype, facebook, etc .. I need hdmi output or something like that to connect it to a TV (I think tablets can do this) to watch through the tablet on 32" inch.
And if u may help me,because I can't understand what type of Hdmi output tablets have or what type of Usb ?
Are they all with micro usb and mini hdmi or not ?
I've liked this tablet for its specifications, but I don't know this brand, nor I have found an official website, either.
ICOO D70PROII 7" Capacitive Screen Android 4.1.1 Dual Core Tablet PC w/ TF / Wi-Fi / HDMI - White - Worldwide Free Shipping - DX
If it's bad, suggest another one from this website, because I've worked before with it.
Other important thing is can someone link me to a guide or something to help me change language, because it's obvious that it will come to me with chinese manual and chinese android :)
And one last thing, can someone tell me what is root and ROM and where to find guides how to root and install Rom-s ?
Thanx to those,who helped :)

I don't know much about the other tablets in your list but I do have an Onda and can speak to that. I like the build quality of the Onda and the dev community is good. Onda appears to support the tablets well...I'm now running jelly bean that is a repack from a ROM released by Onda so I'm happy.

Good luck and enjoy your new tablet, whatever your choice!

This thread is so long and I am helping out my friend. Her child is 8 years old and he will be mostly playing games maybe watching Netflix and I am guessing going to websites and playing games so flash is needed I would guess. She was looking at some Colby 8 inch with 1 gig of ram but only 4 gigs of storage for like 99 at Toys R US. I told her he needs at least 8 gigs of storage and 1 gig of ram and a dual core processor would be nice too. Most all I've looked at have ICS and I found one with JB. an 8 or 9 inch would be better but if specs were great 7 would be ok. She doesn't want to spend more than about 125. I found this one at Walmart for 99 bucks but it only has 512 of ram. But it says it has Google Play which is also something I think he would like in the tablet. This is Walmarts Double Power M-975 with WiFi 9.0" CapacitiveTouchscreen Tablet PC Featuring Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Double-Po...-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-Operating-System/21292046

I then found one on Amazon says it made by Irulu but called PIPO anyone familiar with that? It's only 7 inch but has JB and dual core and 1 gig does this sound good? I googled Irulu and another tablet came up on Amazon with these same specs called IRULU but I have never heard of it. And what is OTG cable it says free.. Here is a link to this one

Amazon.com: PIPO Smart S1 7 Inch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean 5 Points Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen Widescreen 8GB Internet Tablet Dual Core 5 Point Touchscreen & Quad Core Mali-400 MP GPU Tablet PC with RK3066 1.6GHz CPU 1GB DDR3 RAM WIFI HDMI With OTG Ca

But I don't get it cause this one I am posting below has same specs as Pipo one I posted above which says at the bottom made by IRULU and there both a 102 bucks and I think have Google Play. The Pipo one makes an 8 inch with 16 gigs to but it's like 145 or 150 I don't know if she'll spend that much. But I was wondering should she get the one from Walmart online cause it would be easier to return to a store or one from Amazon? If anyone knows of a better one in the price rang of around 70-125 let me know. Now the one above that is called PIPO got good reviews the one below has none but there same I think. I tried to even call this company IRULU it was Long Distance and it was a recording. He's 8 but is 9 inch 512 better than 7 inch 1gig. Will Angry Birds run better with 1gig and should we try to get him a dual core one if possible? I don't know he's 8 he told his mom he wanted an ipad LOL! I do know he should have 8 gigs of storage and not 4. But I want her to get him a good one at a decent price.

I am looking for a tablet mainly just to watch videos on, and occasionally browse the web. I want a microSD slot since most the videos will be saved on that, or it should at least have a decent amount of space on it (16GB or 32GB). I want a 10 inch one, and my budget is around $200 but I can go up to $250 if it is worth it. I have minor knowledge about android, rooted my old android smartphone, but I know how to use google and am technology savvy. Also I would like good build quality, not something cheap. Camera, gps, 3g, and other features are not important to me. All I need is wifi, a good screen and resolution, and good cpu and gpu for just playing videos. Thanks! :D
If it helps a couple tablets I've been looking at are the Ainol Novo 10 Hero (or Hero 2 or Captain), or the Cube U30GT.

Hi thanks all for great support i am looking for cheap tab for my kid girl and my wife :

2) i am up to 150 to 170 $
3) 9 inch or above

I'm looking to get an android tablet for christmas. Below is what i want. Not sure whats "the best" on the market and best value...

I found the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity and found some reviews that usually put it in the top 5 choices. But would prefer a "professional" opinion from someone who uses this regularly.

If you have other suggestions on a good tablet, below is what I'm looking for. If you dont mind pointing me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate any help! :)

Specs i'm looking for:

Speed: FAST!!!
OS: android 4.0 or newer
RAM: 1 Gb
Screen Size: 10+
Upgradable/Replaceable MicroSD Card
Storage: 16-32 gigs preferred
Resolution: Bigger the better
Webcam: 8 mp+ (would like a front facing and rear facing) - i understand both will not be 8 mp
Connection: Wifi only required, may reduce price..
mini HDMI : not 100% necessary but would be nice if available
Life: longer the better
Sensor: GPS/Accelerometer etc..

Thanks again,
Oonej
