Unbrick or update Coby Kyros 7024 with gingerbread firmware...!!!!

Would like to say thanks to all the people that helped make
this 7024-8024-whatever thread work.


Now have a new ROM on my Coby 8024 bought on HSN during April.


I just used 2 files:"7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2.rar" and "modified_U-boot-bin.rar".


These files can be found by looking in this thread.


Was EASY(simple) too.
1)Format 16G microSD with FAT32(outside tablet).
2)Extract "7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2.rar" into root of microSD card.
3)Extract "modified_U-boot-bin.rar" into root microSD card(overwrite stuff on SD card).
4)Put microSD card into Coby 8024.
5)Press "Home"(shiny button) & "Power Button" at same time.
6)When "COBY" appears on screen release the power button.
7)The firmware update program takes over and turns off the tablet when its done.
8)Turn on tablet and calibrate screen and you are done.




All I did then was turn on Wi-Fi, login to Android Market, and .....whatever.


The "ClockSync" app works now too.

Resistive/capacitive is hardware related, not about a driver.

Hmm, then I wonder why my touchscreen doesn't work with the C8lean firmware? The Herotab C8 comes with a capacitive screen, too.

Cara pra te falar a verdade eu nem perdi tempo, baixei outra rom fiz as mudanças, por enquanto estou usando a PhoenixMod e te digo que ela é bem melhor, mais estável, até agora só o acelerometro que esta meio doidão, mais ta bem melhor, acabei de testar o jogo fast five que ná 2.2 não funcionava e nessa rom funcionou beleza, estou começando a gostar dela, no entando você tem que roota ela com um programinha chamado GingerBreak-v1-1.20.apk, mais até agora dou nota 9 pra ela.

Guy to tell you the truth I did not lose time, I downloaded another rom changes, for now I'm using the PhoenixMod and tell you that it is much better, more stable, so far only the accelerometer that this kind of crazy, over ta better , I just test the game fast that in five 2.2 rom did not work and this worked beauty, I'm starting to like it, However you have to rooting it with a program called GingerBreak-v1-1.20.apk, more so now I rate 9 her.

Are you using PhoenixMod with the modified uboot, right?

Also, what PhoenixMod version are you using? I want to give a try.

1) Working with adb and adk
2) A basic knowledge of Java and C
3) Know the internals of mid7024
4) A little knowledge about how android internals work (if you have a customizable android cellphone is better to learn besides this tablet, or you can use the emulator, btw).

Just a point: Android is slighty different than a regular linux distribution, android isnt 100% LFS compilant so far, but of course, many of linux methods work here because android is linux.

Hi flxrms,

how did you get the huawei to work? I`m a rookie with android, so maybe it is a stupid question, but what should i do? I update the 7024 with the 7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2 Rom. When I connect the Huawei to the 7024 and set it to USB-Host, the blue LED of the Huawei 3G modem beginns blinking, so it seems that is has detected a network. But how can I "install" the modem, that adnroid recongnize it and work with it?

então ela ta diboa aparentemente, você precisa roota com um programinha chamado GingerBreak-v1-1.20.apk, inclusive com ela eu consigo ficar com mais de 220mb de ram livre, eu ainda nao tive tempo de testa-lá certinho, porem hoje eu testei o fast five e funcionou na rom 2.2 não funcionava, isso me deixou bem animado, parece que ela tem um suporte 3D melhor, porem a saida HDMI não funciona ainda, alguem tem alguma dica pra resolver isso?

Doesn't works to me, only shows logo. I install it and wait until the screen goes black and nothing more happens. I will plug in adb and see what happening and post a logcat.
