Unbrick or update Coby Kyros 7024 with gingerbread firmware...!!!!

Hi guys,

I read this forum and updated my tablet with Herotab, but the volume control and capacitive keys doesn't work. I tried update using C8lean, but crash with message "failed...zimage...".
I tried power on with power and home buttons pressed, but the screen stay full black.
I tried reset button the tablet without sucess.
I tried too, connect into pc, but make sound of usb power on, and usb power off, and without recognize tablet.
The tablet when pressed power button, the capacitive keys light on a long time, and turn off.

Friends, I don't know what do... I think, I lost my tablet...

Any idea?

Hi flxrms,

how did you get the huawei to work? I`m a rookie with android, so maybe it is a stupid question, but what should i do? I update the 7024 with the 7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2 Rom. When I connect the Huawei to the 7024 and set it to USB-Host, the blue LED of the Huawei 3G modem beginns blinking, so it seems that is has detected a network. But how can I "install" the modem, that adnroid recongnize it and work with it?

By default 3G Settings is off edit your INIT.SMDKV210.RC look for "setprop au.ui.enable_3g false" change it to TRUE then reboot your tablet.

After rebooting you will see a new option for 3G Settings at the Wifi Settings. Setup your 3G settings with the correct APN or other information that your ISP provided.

Then just click it to connect. It will show a 3G Icon near the battery if your connected.

Yes, the camera still works.


Also, the five soft-buttons all work too. The tablet seems to shut-off faster too, but maybe because I don't have > 100 apps on it yet. The sleep-mode seems to work correctly too. With the original Coby 8024 ROM the screen woulddim in 10 minutes(screen saver no big deal). But, when I try to use the tablet again after 30 -50 minutes I would have to re-start the tablet all over again because it turned off. With my iPad Touch(16G 2nd gen) I just press the “Home” button and the thing is ready to go in 2 seconds, because I never hard shut-down it. Now after 30 minutes I just press the silver button on the Coby, and its ready to go.....COOL.

BTW, is the rom“7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2.rar” Android 2.2 or Android 2.3????
Because mine still saids 2.2 not 2.3. Either way, its still better then the original Coby one. )

It's still android 2.2, but i'm now trying to figure out how i can add the volume hard button to 2.3.

First, thanks for your modified ROM alozs.

I have unzipped the PhoenixMod_v1_0805_7024keys.rar in the root of my SD Card (4G formatted in Fat32) and updated (Vol button+Power). I used Gingerbreak for root.
Ok, it worked fine but there are problems:

* rotation is shifted of 90° xD
* Vol buttons doesn't work
* I have troubles with the Wifi for some networks (not all) but since I have this tablet.

Well the PhoenixMod doesnt works to me in any way, always the same problem as I post in my logcat.

Next ROM to test?

Has anyone tried the Herotab C8 rom on the MID1024? Or any others? I would like to be able to get gingerbread running, or at least be able to work with something that can be developed.

aight so i bricked my Kryos mid7024 about 3 hours ago and now testing out C8lean v1.1 custom rom. everything runs great and its super fast evern web pages pull up quickly. i just hate that my hard buttons dont work and my volume but oh well... anyway i was wondering have anyone tried a Honeycomb rom?

I could not menu into anything my soft-keys and volume keys didn't work so I got frustrated and tried the custom c8lean mod in this form. Everything except my camera works and strangely my CPU runs 100% when I'm opening apps. I wish I knew how to write scripts I would use the c8lean v1.1 rom its super-fast and my cpu don't pass 43%... anyone know a way I can update to that rom but keep my soft-keys and volume-keys working?

Actually the last 2.2 update is better because network location is working.
