It MUST be a gingerbread update... there's no sense in release a froyo update for now...

Motorola and LG has released a new brand cellphone with a very outdated android in less than a year ago, also Motorola and Nokia has a long history about releasing outdated cellphones. Common Sense isn't something that happens everyday, they always think that all his costumers are stupid people, fortunately, not all companies act like this to his costumers (HTC and Samsung, for example).

If Coby really care about his costumers, why theres not a sdk out there yet? Why theres not a way to recover a bricked cover yet (really, "bricked" is because something wrong occurs with software, jesus, even the most blocked/locked cellphone has a method to recover from zero, and this damn tablets dont).

I think they'll release this update because, IMHO, they received loads of mails blaming about that, only because of this, and to be honest, we cant expect too much about this update, im not impressed. If we receive a 2.3.1 will be fair enough (even that the last gingerbread version is 2.3.5).

i'm guessing coby cant release any update because the chinese never really gave the sourcecode to them..really sucks!!!

i know someone out there will find a way, im guessing someone that knows about circuit-boards/motherboards because if they built this board with no recovery method after a full brick then they really should have at least stated it somewhere. im even finding forms with detailed methods of replacing the stock battery with a longer lasting battery and i really want to do that.... guess it was just time for me to upgrade but i still miss my mid7024 :( .... i hope this update brings it back to life at least so i can get back to work with my roms

I really don't care about version, I care about an official update to start, how the official update works and what drivers we can use it to make better custom roms. If we can get hands on this, we can even port a htc-sense rom to this tablet (yes, its possible, sense 3.0 runs smooth in Nexus One with almost the same hardware, and sense 2 runs smooth on motorola milestone with less hardware than 7024), or maybe a possibility to make a custom honeycomb (theres a honeycomb rom for nexus one, without phone working, just using some nexus drivers and a honeycomb build).

well right now...even if they only release updated drivers i can use for other modified Gingerbread, ill be happy!!! so i can make that damn volume hardware button work... plus hdmi, plus rotation, plus gravity sensor, battery etc hehe

I just blame Coby about this (via email) some days ago, and in fact, I'll not regret about that. Btw, I think we have some good news, let me show a mail that I exchange with Coby:

(After some flames, I'll not paste the entire mail thread, just the last ones)

Myself:
If you guys doesnt want to help people that PAY for something that doesnt work, at least hand over some SDK for professional android people like me trying to fix it.

Coby:
The firmware update will be available to download on our website within five business days.

Hell yeah! those are great news!
We finally will have a recovery and a base rom so the geniuses around here can do their magic!

Looking forward to it

well, i lost my 8024 , first the screen come to white, i try to save the tablet and the screen come to black, my last chance is a video from youtube , now the tablet don't start (only blink 1x all the button lights) , i buy a new one yesterday. i only will try to flash again when i have a working rom to up (android 3.0 system ). p.s.:change the title unbrick ou update coby kyros 7024 with gingerbread firmware...!!!! to unbrick or upgrade coby kyros 7024, 8024 and 1024. i think the tread of these topic change a lot 8P

I've got the 1024 and I've bricked it. I've tried applying several of the alleged updates. One of them it boots up perfectly fine, FC's Gmail and the touchscreen doesn't work. Another GB update boots up but has the Nexus live wallpaper all screwed up and is unresponsive to anything. Any ideas?

the 8024 and the 1024 has a larger screen than the 7024 so im guessing the settings would have to be changed to suit the larger screen. if i had those 2 devices i could work on a rom for them but i dont so i wont release a custom rom unless i can test it for a few days. also i have not seen any custom roms yet for those devices yet but if i run into any i will let you know.

Thanks. If I can't get it unbricked today or tomorrow, then I'm gonna just return it.

It's not a true HC. It's just a gingerbread with hc theme. I just upgraded 2 7015's its still slower than my froyo 7024.

It's only arm 11 telechip 8902, 800mhz and 256mb memory. I cant even run plants vs zombie.

Telechips really great because you can download their kernel sourcecode at their website.
