Hi, i tried wicced gingerbread rom on my 8024 an now i have my screen completely white. Curiosly it works, the buttons respond, i hear a click in the speaker when this power on, the same when the screen looked good. My cuestion is, someone tried a custom rom of this forum in an 8024 (not 7024) which works ok?. Thank you very much

my GB rom was geared for the mid7024 because that was the device i had, i dont know which rom would work for that 8024 because it has a bigger screen but i will see what i find for u

I tried Wicced gingerbread rom too, on my 7024 and everything is perfect except:

* Vol buttons but I don't care
* Camera but I don't care
* Screen Calibration :S Any solutions ?

the screen Calibration software i forgot to add to the rom but will be included in V2 and also working camera. as for the Vol buttons i have nothing to test with so everything is on pause right now.

i will try and pull the Screen Calibration app for you guys and post it up so u can install and use it to calibrate the screen.

Right, I just tested the two lastest roms posted till now (flxrms' Froyo and Wicced247's Gingerbread) and will state now mine impressions, dunno if this will apply por everyone (pretty sure that it will).

The Froyo rom is good and all with everything* working - except for the 4 buttons (back, browser, search and menu) - they stay lit all time.

The Gingerbread rom is actually very good, with a very considerable gain in performance, in speed and in screen sensibility... the screen is actually so sensitive that I think will have to calibrate it (LCD density changer or similar)!
And for the lost of physical volume buttons we have the choice to control the volume by the main configs menu or another app's in-menu options...
Even without the camera, this one was my choice.

*Considering I didn't had time to do a proper complete testing - didn't test the wifi, 3g, hdmi nor the battery usage - for both roms*

Just want to know now if it is possible to install apps in the free space (2gb) on the internal sd card (since the internal memory of the tablet just give us 450mb to install and it can't be increased - risking brick the tablet). I didn't like installing apps on external sd since many of them lost performance doing this...

...sigh... I'd like to know this programming issues to help fixing the buttons, camera etc...

there are few apps on the market that allow you to install apps on the external sd but in my opinion i dont think its a good idea because e.g i multitask allot and i use my external microSD in my other devices for fast file transfer. So because of that i had decided to switch my 4GB microSD with my 16GBmicroSD which basically solved my issue with running out of space for apps :) and also if you have apps installed on the external sd, if u remove the card the apps wont work until u put the card back in which is kinda annoying to me.

as for camera my GB V2 rom will have working camera, screen calibration and hopefully working Vol-keys. i will also include a few extra apps that in my opinion is great to have especially if u have a PC. wish me luck in getting another device and i will help as much as i can with questions or problems as i can.

oh i forgot to mention i was working on an app to tweak the camera to show and take clearer pictures in our devices, not sure if that tweak will be in V2 but hopefully in V3. I was also working on a full HoneyComb 3.0 rom for our devices that i will continue work on when i have a working device

I just figured now, if you use the app2sd to move apps without an external sd inserted on kyros, it will move the app to the 2gb+ free space in the internal sd. So, problem with internal memory is solved.

And I just figured, that some apps that were compatible in the android market with the original rom are now not compatible, the device name in the app screen installer on web market was "coby kyros mid7024", but now it is showing the device as "Verizon sec mid7024" don't letting me install some apps that were possible before... can you fix this too?

Looking forward to your GBv2

Yeah thx for your work dude, can't wait for the HC rom =D (and the Gingerbread V2 before^^)

how about using the old 4gb sd card of your tablet?

my device had bricked before when i was trying to root my stock rom from Coby which in turn made me start my custom roms, so that 4GB i had in the tablet got replaced with my 16GB so basically i used my 4GB for my external memory like i had with my 16GB. And basically my tablet is dead it dont turn on so even if i try installing a custom rom for the external card it wont work because the device is fully dead. i think what happened was by changing the internal memory made the device not know what to do anymore or made it think that one of its hardware stopped working so in turn for safety it stays off. im hoping to find a was to manually wipe the internal settings of the device but so far without power in the device im stuck :(

yes i realized that problem with V1 because my device was using my Verizon Omnia2 3G settings and also i tried my T-Mobile 3G :) (oh you set the 3G up right they work) and for some reason Android Market checks ur 3G carrier too. so in all i will have to leave the device without the T-Mobile and Verizon 3G settings and just allow the option to set it up as needed in V2. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your information on your find :)

What else can be and Android firmware version 3.0?
Are there any methods to return the standard (factory) firmware with "rally" and improvised rooting firmware, as well as in privraschenii a "brick" Tablet Series 7024 and 8024?

Oh, I have another suggestion... when you set a Wallpaper that isn't is one of the default pics, the image gets awkwardly blurred... I dunno if this is a native problem in the 2.3 android (in froyo didn't get this issue - in froyo could get any pic in any resolution and setting as wallpaper it setted ok) or is something to be set in the rom...
anyway, I still have to see then if I add pics to this default folder, they will get fine when setting as wallpaper, or will have to set the pic resolution as same of the default wallpapers...

Would like to say thanks to all the people that helped make
this 7024-8024-whatever thread work.

Now have a new ROM on my Coby 8024 bought on HSN during April.

I just used 2 files:"7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2.rar" and "modified_U-boot-bin.rar".

These files can be found by looking in this thread.

Was EASY(simple) too.
1)Format 16G microSD with FAT32(outside tablet).
2)Extract "7024-C8lean_v0.41_v2.rar" into root of microSD card.
3)Extract "modified_U-boot-bin.rar" into root microSD card(overwrite stuff on SD card).
4)Put microSD card into Coby 8024.
5)Press "Home"(shiny button) & "Power Button" at same time.
6)When "COBY" appears on screen release the power button.
7)The firmware update program takes over and turns off the tablet when its done.
8)Turn on tablet and calibrate screen and you are done.

All I did then was turn on Wi-Fi, login to Android Market, and .....whatever.

The "ClockSync" app works now too.

Thanks GUYS!!!!!

GREAT JOB TO ALL!!!

Any question, suggestions, or whatever just feel free to post.
