Kinpad I600 7" Capacitive, Phone 3G GPS Wifi HDMI 2.2

No GPS - what a disappointment, but something I can live with.

Another disappointment is the supplied charger - cheap and nasty, which is a shame as I am pleased (not to mentioned surprised) at the very good build quality of the table itself. Have tried a number of alternative chargers - the first one ($3) burnt out after around 40 minutes. The second one (Veho - $6) looks very nice, appears to be of good quality but simply didn't work. Now looking at more upmarket chargers around $20.

You might want to check with supplier first. Regular USB chargers won't work. It might be some kind of different pin out. You don't want to damage the device by plugging in the wrong charger.

Hi!

I could send it back to ShowChina but I already saved confidential data on the flash drive of the tablet, like access to my mail files, twitter etc...
In addition I don't know how destroyed the tablet is. Maybe they only have to replace the battery and they get access to all of my files :(
In this way...

I truly doubt they are going to want your data when they get the device back. At this point you basically have three choices......send it back for repairs ......or buy a new one....or try to get your money back, which will require sending the unit back anyway.

Is the manufacturer original charger still working? Does it have a part number for part cross reference?

With usb chargers the pin outs are standard so there no chance of messing stuff up. They'll all 5volts which is the voltage of a usb device. The important thing with the kinpad powercharger is that it's 2amps. 2amps is more than than computer usb ports which might explain why you can't charge the kinpad via computer. A charger can have more more than 2amps but not less. Too low of amps the device won't charge at all or the amp draw will be too much and burn the adapter out. The other issue is that a lot of usb adapters are the smart type that provides data to the device and vice versa. These type dont work with the kinpad which means that higher end power supplies designed for devices like an iphone may not work. As an aside the iphone cable works as a substite kinpad usb cable.

In other words all you really need is a plain, inexpensive usb adapter that can provide 2 amps or more.

I just noticed that Merimobiles has delayed shipping the of the kinpad until March 15th. What's up with that? They've been promising to ship since Christmas. Does any one have the inside scoop on this?

I received a DHL tracking number this morning 3-7-11 Merimobiles sent the item as promised 3-4-11.

Yes the original charger's still working and now we know why the replacement 1 amp charger burnt out!

Sounds like you'll have your own unit to play with very shortly!

Approx. 36 hours of standby with WIFI ON.

Not too shabby for a Shanzhai tablet ;)

36 hours of continuous usage with screen on? If it means it can idle up to 36 hours... Anyways more details, or this is kind of misleading...

Im assuming 36hrs idle.......it would be extremely nice to get 36hrs full usage.

Well, SOMETHING needs to justify the price, right?!? ;)

Are you disappointed in the unit? Ive seen similar units with no phone option for close to the price listed on the kinpad. moto xoom has no phone option & is probably double the price, big deal it has HC 3.0 on it and its a bit more polished, I think tegra2 but still cannot make a simple call.

That was JUST the standby time, I only checked on the battery life every once in a while. I think continuous usage is hard to compare, some activities drain the battery more than others.

Are you disappointed in the unit?

No, not at all :) I'm just saying that the price is getting very close to some "brand name" devices that you might be able to buy locally, so it better be playing in slightly higher league than some other (cheaper) Shanzhai tablets :)

Clearly the manufacturer needs some polish to create a brand name and create after sales support. Otherwise they will be lost in shadow like many others.

GPS/A-GPS issue and power supplier problem has to be sort out soon.

Additionally I wonder;

1. How many different companies manufacture Kinpad? So far we have identified ShowChina and Eavoo. Is there any information that they are different companies?
2. Where does merimobiles buy from?
3. What is the relationship with Gigabytes?
4. Why do some customers have GPS while others have A-GPS?
5. Did anybody connect Kinpad to a TV via HDMI? If yes, is there an interface screen on TV?

etc etc....
