[ROM] ViewCOMB 3.2 - Honeycomb 3.2 for ViewPad 10s

Thanks for your works!
I am new in Android tablet. Sorry for my stupid questions.
I got my 10s (3G) last week. I updated it to 6.3 immediately and I wanna upgrade to 7.1 now.
How can I keep / backup all my setting, apps installed ....everything after I Flash it to 7.1?
Or I need to re-install all apps, reset all setting every time I upgrade to a new version?
Thanks!

Hi BartS,

Well, seems there are more than one "wifi" model... some hardware differences (maybe only the touch panel)... I'm in the wrong batch... geez...
I'm stuck in version 5.1, works well, a little slow maybe, but works... and Viewcomb is far better and nicer than stock 2.2.

My Viewpad is:

Model: VS14006
S/N: SN9111200265
FCC ID: GSS-VS14006
IC: 4280A-VS14006

Yours ?

Kind regards,
Javier.

Hey Javier,

Ah thats pretty lame.. what country are you from?

I bought mine in the Netherlands.

My VP is:

Model: VS14006
S/N: SL5110400***
FCC ID: Unkown
IC: Unkown

These are some stickers with the following numbers on the back:

CCAF11LP0050T1
and
SL5110400549

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Bart

I have a WiFi model, and was a happy user of version 6.3. The only annoying thing was the WiFi bug which made it needed to reboot the device every time I took it out of sleep. So I was very happy to see that there was a new version with a new WiFi driver, since I was hoping this should solve the WiFi issue.

But now I am getting the "Starting Fastboot USB download protocol"screen. Legionnaire, could you please look into this for the WiFi only version, if you need any information which would be helpful for development please let me know! Thanks al lot for all the work in this ROM so far!

im back to 6.3, wifi was flaky, as was the random gpu crashes, I also experienced usb download protocol crash too, 7.1 is pretty snappy, but a few bugs kill that release for me, Im hoping for a future release, thanks

to answer a few questions regarding 7.1

no working solution for the gps, although legionnairre assures me that one is coming (hence, location based services will not work unless connected to the internet)

disable your sim card pin using your phone, then insert into your tab

your gmail contacts should sync in the email app

touchscreen works perfectly (remember this ROM is for the viewpad 10s 3g )

I have successfully "rebooted" my tablet half a dozen times, there is no boot issue if you own the 3g version of the viewsonic viewpad

the minor kernel fixes and gpu ram fix, have made this tablet, as fast as a motorola xzoom, on which all tegra based roms (vegacomb, viewcomb etc) source code and kernels are based on, and viewcomb 7.1 is an extremely well worked piece of code, it has turned a minor brand tablet, into a powerhouse, and this is due to ONE developer, LEGIONNAIRE, many thanks sir, without your hard work, the viewpad 10s 3g would be such a dissapointment, with viewcomb 7.1 installed, its a great machine, many thanks.

I have been following this rom with interest as I have a viewpad on order and given the potential ease with which one can install this ROM compared to others, it has looked like my favorite for upgrading the viewpad when it arrives.

However this statement (highlghted above) now worries me. I did not realise that this ROM was specifically not intended for non 3g (wifi only) models. By your statement it seems you are saying other ROMs are better for wifi models. I hope that I am wrong... but if you are correct I would kindly request that the ROM is named accordingly e.g. viewcomb3g, as Im sure I would not be the only one making the mistake of believeing this ROM to be suitable for our tablets.

Secondly, whilst I was very grateful that the developer had produced a ROM that was potentially easy to install, and feel he deserves obvious thanks for this effort, it is well known that the develpment is a further refinement of the vegacomb ROM, so it also seems a little inappropriatte to emphasise that this ROM is down to ONE developer.

Please dont take my comments wrongly. Had I been getting a 3g modelI certainly would have been aiming to use this ROM, and though I now cannot I still appreciatte the developers work, Im merely trying to be clear regarding the fatcs.

certain wifi owners report different things, some say 6.1 works, others 5.1, so its a mystery to me, the wifi owners seem to have different panels, so its a matter of testing each release, as the rom hasnt had a "final release", all I can say is that its a work in progress, also 7.1 seems to have a few issues, im currently on 6.3, and found that to be the most stable of the roms so far.

Appreciatte the response, however my primary point was the clarity with which you said the ROM was for 3g, which to me says it ISNT for wifi only... I just want to be clear whether what you said is true, or you are merely stating that there are more potential problems on the wifi than the 3g?

can the community please remember, that this rom is being developed by one man, legionnaire, and the work he puts in is extreme, he owns a 3g viewpad, so this rom is being developed on that model, he cant test the rom on every tegra device, or viewsonic tablet, just with his own 10s 3g, but im sure the feedback helps him greatly...

no, simply more people are reporting problems with the wifi version...sorry for the confusion

First of all I wanna thank everyone that has developed this ROM. You people rules!
Secondly just for the info, im using viewpad 10s wifi only and this ROM (6.3) is working wonderfully for me no major issues at all.

hi, first day I set up build 7 then I had "starting fastboot usb download protocol" problem when I turned it on.
then I reflashed 7.1 version and now again I had "starting fastboot usb download protocol" problem.

help please...

Hi, I'm owner of ViewSonic 10s WiFi only and work very fine with 6.3 version. Was a great sorprise when I see that 7.1 version is ready.

I'm downloding rigth now and whe back to my house I will instal in my device.

Very Very Tks.

I bought a Wi-Fi only version of Viewpad 10s but so far I'm very disappointed with the device. I'm also using an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Gio on 2.3) and very happy with it. But this tablet is a complete disaster. It cannot open most of the applications, does not have Market access and Google services, also wtf is wrong with its G-sensor? When I try to play a game which uses g-sensor, I can play it with portrait orientation while the game displays landscape! It occasionally crashes for no reason, or lags so much that the device stops working at some point. I'm using the stock rom and will try to install a new rom tonight and I hope it helps otherwise I will be using the damn device as a plate.

7.1 has a new touchscreen calibration app, might be worthwhile to try it !

Hi Mc,

I was waiting a direct response from Legionnarie...

I want to know if he has info where to investigate the screen parameters...

Obviously I'm going to try 7.1, but I really doubt the issue is related to calibration, unless the tool can change deep values. I did some test and found the stock rom only detects TWO touches, but Viewcomb detects a THIRD touch, but then mess the coordinates for the previous two touches... starting in version 6, this issue is worst and seems the sustained touch is detected and released in a really fast cicle (detect, release, detect, release.... etc)... Looks like a kernel parameters issue.

Regards,
Javier.
