-Once you installed the latest Clockworkmod ROM manager, open ROM Manager
-Press "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"

-Rom manager will then flash your NC with the CWR image
-If asked for NC model, pick "nook color old" (Per the most recent XDA post)
-Once complete you will see the following: "Successfully flashed..."
-Next reboot or power off your Nook Color **Very Important**

If you have CWR already installed you can just update it to the new version by flashing from zip in CWR:

Update to OP: new kernels listed for all operating system

Flashing a new kernel using ClockworkMod Recovery
-Download stock and custom kernels zip files:

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire
update-eclair-dalingrin-OC-emmc-022511.zip (for android 2.1 ran off internal memory)
update-eclair-dalingrin-OC-sd-022511.zip (for android 2.1 ran off SD card)
update-Froyo_CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-022511.zip (for android 2.2 & 2.3 ran off internal memory)
update-Froyo_CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-022511.zip (for android 2.2 or 2.3 ran off SD card)
update-HC-dalingrin-OC-emmc-022511.zip (for android 3.0 ran off internal memory)
update-HC-dalingrin-OC-sd-022511.zip (for android 3.0 ran off SD card)

kernel-stock.zip stock 1.0.1 (for android 2.1 ran off internal memory)

**Pay attention and download the appropriate kernel for your operating system**

-Copy zip files to the root directory of your sd card.
-Open your favorite file browser and make sure all (5) files are on root sd card.

note: A kernel as in reference to Android is a linux based core system which controls services such as security, memory management, process management, network stacks, and hardware driver control. Therefore the kernel, controls the parameters at which the cpu gets it's clock speed, limits, and voltage.

I rooted my 1.1 NC with AutoNooter 3.0 and successfully flashed ClockworkMod 3.0.1.0, did the Nandroid backup. After backup was completed, my NC keeps rebooting in CWR. What did I do wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong 1bb, it happens sometimes with AN3.0...check the link in my sig. there is a post that talks about removing CWR while keeping your root. You just need to remove CWR then reflash it in ROM Manager after you successfully reboot.

for some reason after every time i install a rom or kernel, my NC decides to boot to CWR by default. I have to use darmeen's link (thanks!) to uninstall CWR so I can get back to regular boot. now have a dedicated CWR uninstall card, but any thoughts on why it does that?

Have you tried doing the recoveryfix.zip from that same FAQ?

That is a very interesting problem.

i just have one question its not how to flash a kernal but if i flash a custom kernal will it effect my stock nook set up..yea i am rooted with rom manager 3.0.1.0 but want the option to bump up the kernal to 2.2 froyo. so i am rooted but i have not flashed a custom rom to ensure i still have my stock nook buttons..so will flashing the 2.2 froyo take away my stock set up?------------ROOTED, ROM MANAGER, TITANIUM BACKUP, ZEAM LAUNCHER. But i do want the option to obtain flash player 10.1

So, once you uninstall CWR, you are able to boot with the freshly installed ROM without any problems? If that's the case, good to know, because I seem to be having the same issue.

Interesting indeed... As I posted in the phiremod beta 2 thread, I had the exact same problem after using CWR from a bootable SD and removing it after install. I was afraid that it was going to be stuck in CWR again after restoring back to 2.1, but it worked fine.

hello. i've follow all the tutorials, rooted and at 1.0.1. i'm trying to get a good backup going using clockworkmod recovery and rom manager..

i've copied over the necessary files to root of my sd and then installed rom manager. i have a valid internet connection, yet whenever i click on flash clockworkmod recovery it says 'an error occurred while flashing your recovery'.

couple things i've noticed is that it says 'you must have the clockworkmod recovery installed to flash and restore roms' (i thought this installs it from the SD zip like in the tutorial?) and also preceding the install of the rom manager it never asks for superuser access.

can anyone point me in the right direction?

-Uninstall CWR rom manager
-Go to market and search for clockworkmod rom manager
-Install the newest version
-Allow SU access
-Turn off or reboot
-Once back booted try flashing again.

I need to update the tutorial again when I get some time. Copying CWR image file to root was for when there was no support in CWR for the NC. The newer versions which you can install from the market, fully support the NC.

Update to OP:
Note: Since the current versions of Clockworkmod rom manger and clockworkmod recovery now support the Nook Color, you can install CWR rom manger from the market instead of manually from sd card.

Installing ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery

-Open Market app, search for "rom manager"
-Install latest version of Clockworkmod rom manager app
-Once installed, go to app draw and open Rom Mnager
-When installing ROM manager, the SuperUser app will ask permission to preceed with install.
-Check remember and then hit the allow button

For manually Installation:

The rest of the tutorial is the same.

Except that nemith insists to only use 'Nook Color' and to stop using 'Nook Color (old)' since it's no longer supported. Despite many folks only being able to do successful backups with the old device. So until it works out or a better explanation is given, i believe that anyone not using a cm7 based rom should use old and anyone using a cm7 based rom can use the new one. I wish I could get nemith to acknowledge what we are seeing with this one.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have a vanilla NC 1.1 using Autonooter 3.0, and I flashed the kernel-stock 1.0.1 (have CWR 3.0.1.0 to get passed CWR bootloop)- is this the correct kernel to have flashed? When I go into SetCPU, it seems that the max is 800mhz and I can't figure out how to increase it to 1.1ghz? Thanks in advance!
