Trying to Identify Kernel, Possible Overclocking Possibilities for DM7022 Radio

Would it be a good idea to gather all the info on the ES666 and ES777 to a new (maybe sticky?) thread with a more descriptive name?
Since no-one else on the interwebs is talking about these maybe we could be the one stop place for this. I intend to do a full installation post with all the steps - software installation, crucial fixes, rooting and the like with pictures and video when I get mine.

Whoa, talk about a fast delivery. A DHL delivery guy was just at my door and it already arrived!
Just unboxed it with some pictures and will make a larger post later about the setup.

EDIT:
Here is the unboxing post in case you are interested: http://944-s2.blogspot.com/2012/01/erisin-es777a-unboxing.html

I already installed most of my software without a hitch, still cannot get Google Car Home to work or Google Music (the online version) to install either...
I did not root it yet, for some reason my computer doesn't recognize it with ADB - dunno what it could be, ADB works fine with my HTC phone

HI Wuoma,
Good to see you got your unit quickly. I know I had to wait for them to ship from China into the UK and then from the UK warehouse to me... 16 long impatient days and nights :). Although, that’s my excuse for not doing a nice unwrapping blog like yourself and it’s got nothing to do with my laziness. I like the car/blog btw, that unit will look really nice in that beast.

I agree about the thread but I don’t think anybody here has the power to move/rename it or even create a new section on the forum but I’ll happily be corrected if that’s not the case. I was thinking that I might try and put something up over the next week or so but it'll really depend on my time, as I’ve just returned to work today after the Christmas break and I’m already up to my eyeballs.

Gareth
Ps. Re the adb issue might be worth checking the usb debug option is enabled within the pad settings (guessing you’ve done this but thought I’d check) and that your computer isn’t listing multiple devices. I know since connecting my mobile the other day the adb no longer works unless I use the -s option to select the connected device. Again you sound like your used to all this stuff so apologies if I’m suggesting things you’ve already tried.

Well nobody knows too much about this stuff and even though I have done some stuff with roms on Winmob and Android phones I can hardly call myself a pro. However, I did as you guessed already check that the debugging mode was on and when it is off I can see the SD card and internal memory from my pc. So the connection is working.
Using "adb devices" the computer shows me 0 devices and so I'm unable to select it...

Looking at my device manager I see there is one device that is missing a driver called "E8". Did you install some telechips drivers to get it working on your computer or did it just work right away? I got a list of about 10 different devices that were installed with correct drivers when I plugged the usb cable in, but this E8 seems to be missing a driver. Most likely that's the reason for the adb not working.

Have to wait a few days to get the machine installed to my car, it has 2 din slots but there is a small metallic brace sort of thing in between them that I need to cut out of the way. Luckily the upcoming Friday is a national holliday here so I have a long weekend to work with the car :)

Sounds like we're around the same level then. I'm certainly no expert regarding Android or these units.

Re drivers: I'm running Windows 7 64bit but didn’t install anything special. In fact the only driver that I've ever installed was done by SuperOneClick under the advanced tab. Just make sure you run SuperOneClick as an administrator then click check driver.
It’s worth noting that one person had problem with SuperOneClick saying the device was already rooted. I experienced this myself, I also experienced the pad locking up after it says its rooted but simple unplugging it, reset device and then plugging it back in again after its finished booting. solved my problem (e.g SuperOneClick carried on with its config/tests). I also found that when I install busybox it screwed up the symbolic link and caused the device to stop allowing su requests. I ended up recreating the symlinks to the correct su binary and the problem was resolved.

Oh BTW, I did originally try z4root as also suggested here but that just said it was applying the root and then forced close. Never did get it to work.

As for the two Din, been there myself. I've got a 2.7 v6 Hyundai Coupe and that shall we say... it was a challenge to make it fit in the rubbish metal frame:mad:. Lots and lots of tweaking and at times it was almost shoehorned in with a hammer but common sense prevailed over impatience in the end ;)

Hi All,
Its early days but after spending the last 4 days trying different version of wpa_supplicant (5, 5.1 & 6.10 and what feels like hundreds of different compilations) I've managed to connect, obtain an IP address and finally transfer data between pad and PC via my custom Ad hoc connection. Now I'm not going to post anything further until I've run some more tests tonight after work. Equally my Wi-Fi OBD adapter hasn’t turned up yet and that's ultimately the only test I’m really interested in but I thought I’d share my early success. Once I've performed some further tests tonight and correlated the mass of source articles and links I’ll post my findings…. well providing everything proves 100% and my test so far aren’t false in some way.

Wuoma, I downloaded some telechip drivers when I did the fwdn method for some things I'm not sure if that is what allowed me to establish the adb connection or not but it would be worth a try I believe they are on page 5 if not it might have been page 8.
Hope that helps.

Great, thanks!
I'll give this a go when I get home from work today.

I can confirm Adhoc wifi test worked last night and my WIFI OBD turned up today. Tests with Torque connected to it without issue. I'll write up etc later tonight after work.

That is so awesome you got the adhoc working on the 777 right? Where did you get the OBD adapter from they look so expensive?

Hey guys, i`ve just received my ES777 aka dm7033 and i see some problems which i don`t know how to solve.

1. GPS speed. Yes, it is totally wrong as 100 times said in this forum. I drive 60, it says 100kph. Causes wrong estimated time of arrival calculation as well as wrong zoom value when i use auto-zoom feature. It causes annoying false speeding alarms as well. Makes GPS 50% useless.

2. Bluetooth. It works, but..... With my MOTO DEFY MB525 it pairs, it plays the music pretty good using A2DP, but i can`t use it as a handsfree. People hear my voice very well, but i almost don`t hear them. Volume adjustment doesn`t help. Neither on phone nor on ES777. Speaker volume is very very very low during the bluetooth phonecall. However, as i said, music plays well via bluetooth from the same source and volume is OK. By the way, it worked great with the original Nissan (re-badged Clarion) audio.

3. GPS voice. When IGO says "In 5 hundred meters keep right", i hear "In fa....ed mete.. keep ri....". That`s what i can`t understand as other programs seems to be working without such problem.

4. PAD. OS is A2.3, it is fast, responsive, and it plays 3D games smooth and fast. Unfortunatelly no multi-touch.

Thank you very much in advance for your opinions. I will really appreciate your advices.

I received DM7033 PAD only with home charger. it is Android v2.3.3 It run "FAST" but the screen doesn't seem to run as well as my cellphone screen. Overall, I am happy with it. I bought it direct from manufacturer and pay my western union (page 12 my post).

I run Co-pilot GPS software without any problem. I put WINAMP, TuneIn radio, Moboplayer. All working well.

I still want to upgrade the DM7022 PAD. Is there anyway I can extract the DM7033 O/S and put it into DM7022?

The Model showed on Market is : Telechips M801 Evaluation Board (DM7033).

Here is some people extract out the O/S, Boot, recovery. I hope it will help.

Hi, i am looking for the video player for ES777/DM7033 tablet with the following functionality:

1) AVI (divx, xvid).
2) MKV with multiple audio and subtitle tracks (i want to choose which tracks to play). This is for learning English ;)
3) External subtitles and external audio tracks if possible.

Can you please recommend me good video player with such functionality, which is also compatible with ES777 PAD hardware?

Try Rockplayer lite, it should do all those things. I use it on my ES777A and have not found a video file yet that it couldn't play.
Just make sure to choose software decode and it will open all files (the hardware decoding only works sometimes, but the ES777A is powerfull enough to play the videos with just software rendering).

Moboplayer is better than RockPlayer. I think.
