Trying to Identify Kernel, Possible Overclocking Possibilities for DM7022 Radio

Hi All,
Just wanted to check in with you all and apologies for being missing for so long. I see we've had a lot of new people join the thread and lots of interesting questions have been posted. Not managed to catch up on them all myself yet but it'll give me something to do over the weekend.

My illness returned after my last post so I've not been up to participating in anything at all but I'm back now and whilst my contribution has always been small I look forward to read the up and coming posts and helping where I can.

Re: my own unit I'm still trying to get hold of the recovery image for the es777 after killing my own :(
I'm also experiencing random screen shutdowns when it’s in head unit mode e.g. screen just goes blank whilst listening to the radio. Same as when you press the screen sleep in the main menu. Except that if you press the screen where the buttons would normally be you can still change the radio stations or change the band, go back to the menu screen. However until you undock the tablet from the main unit the screen won’t come back on. I've also noticed that he main unit is not always powering on after starting the car ( I think this is only the case when the pad is docked). I have to undock the tablet and then the main unit powers on automatically.

Erisin have been no help at all and I’ve almost given up trying to send the unit back due to the touchscreen membrane starting to peel off on one corner. Might just save myself the pain and glue it back on before it gets worse.

Any way that it from me I’m now heading in to work for the first time in ages so fingers crossed it’ll be an easy day.

Hi j8dailo,

Thanks for the update, the new model has every thing we would want in the UK market except bluetooth in the pad, but its still very nice !
My replacement pad has been despatched dhl & the tracking says its currently in Kazakhstan !! Its expected to arrive on wednesday, It will be interesting to see if they have fixed the gps speed issue in later versions.

I've been having the exact same issues as well. I think its some type of timeout feature thats kicking in. I think I noticed this happening after I changed the output display from HDMI to LCD. I want to change it back to HDMI and see if this still happens.

Hi! I have the same problem if i boot the tablet, but don`t unlock the screen. It stays on, but "locked". I switch to the RADIO mode and screen goes blank after several minutes. But if i unlock android screen after boot and then switch to the RADIO mode - screen never goes blank. Probably android turns display off by timeout if screen is locked and even from the "background" it totally switches display off.

By the way, my 777 wakes up in such case by pressing POWER button on a tablet without undocking.

Hi, in my car steering wheel controls wiring diagram is like this :

View attachment 5658
There are 6 buttons in 2 groups. 2 signal lines. Without resistors only 4 buttons work. With resistors - all 6.

Sorry for the dumb question in advance, but where does the +5v connect to listed in the above pic??
im trying to connect the SWC of the ES666A unit to a My05 forester XT and its doing my head in!
Ive managed to get 3/6 functions working. There is only 2 wires from the cars SWC Pink and Blue, I connected Blue --> GND of AHU and Pink --->AD1.
As yet i havent connected the AD2 wire..Can I ground the GND wire to any earth or does it have to come from the SWC wires??
Thanks in advance guys :)

Hi All,
Been reading this Forum since ordering my ES777A. It took over a month to get...apparently go lost somewhere.
Anyhow I got my unit yesterday and spent last night rooting and patching the PAD. Happy with the PAD unit but noticed some light bleed from the bottom side..guess poor manufacturing.
Now my BIG issue!!! I started installing the base unit into my car and noticed the last pin on the connectors is missing half the pin...I cant believe it. The unit is working most of the time but the pin is very dodgy. This is obviously a manufacturing fault so I think they should ship a replacement base unit....lets see what happens.

I also noticed the power on issues when the pad is docked when on...it doesnt turn off with the car etc.

I decided to load Go Launcher Ex ...runs quite well and has good animations.

I has tasker on my android phone which turns on Wifi tether as soon as it sees it has paired with the bluetooth in the car. That way I can run streaming radio off the net as soon as it starts.

Will see how it goes on my drive to work tomorrow.

The +5V is the red wire on the swc connector, your extension may or may not have it, mine didn't.
GND needs to connect to swc ground to get a resistance to register.
I am a bit better off, manage 4/6 buttons working.

Hi Guys,

My replacement tablet arrived via fed ex bang on time today & i'm not so sad any more ! Im in the process of setting it up & want to root it, on my old one(dm7022 android 2.1) i used z4 but z4 dosent appear to work with my new tablet (dm7033 android 2.33), does anyone know of a similar easy for a newbie to android root app that will work with my new pad. If anyone wants the detail of who to contact for a updated pad for £128 delivered then give me a shout !
First impression of the new pad is that it is a massive improvement though im not so impressed with igo & unless Isee some improvement, im going to delete it & get co pilot which worked well even on my slower pad.

Best wishes to all of you & I hope you all are still making progress with your pads.

Hi Mark, Super One Click works just fine. Install it on your PC, start it with admin rights, connect your tablet via USB, wait for the driver installation (you may need to download the driver, but may be not), click "ROOT", done.

And don`t forget to enable USB Debugging option otherwise it won`t work.

Under Applications - Developer Try turning on the leave screen on option while charging.

Hi all. Mark I have es666. Please share how you ordered. How do you pay for. Where do you send. Is there a duty to Europe. Thanks

They tell me they are going to send me a replacement plug. Does anyone know are these modules removable. I had a look and they looks like they are in blocks of three so perhaps they plug in? Had a look at the inside dm7022 photos but doesnt show this in detail.

Any ideas?
