Trying to Identify Kernel, Possible Overclocking Possibilities for DM7022 Radio

Could I get someone who has a DM7033 to check that it records sound ok when they do a video. And has anyone got the voice recognition going?

I opened the PAD to see how hard it would be to replace the Mic...if thats the issue. Not an easy job by the looks.

Mic works fine for pad and headunit.
I use bluetooth speakerphone function over the headunit.
Audio ok during video recording.
For pad voice recognition, you will need to install voicesearch 2.1.4. apk

Hi spacey,

I´m putting the front and rear camera as you and my unit also start the rear camera mode when datects a video singnal, so I hope that there is no problem to use it without conectin the green cable.

So the question is hopefully simply is this another firmware fault, manufacturing fault with the hardware or do I have a faulty unit?
As ever your views and comments are most welcome.
Gareth

Hi Gareth,

Can confirm this is a feature..... Had the same surprise when I connected the unit up replacing my existing head unit with reverse camera.

Luckily my camera also was powered by the reversing power so It was resolved quickly. (I had previously had it also power with the tail lights and come on aux feed on my old unit) I just removed the tail unit power from the cam and now the reversing works ok.

So like you say...so much for the reversing cable detection.

But overall with all the unit faults and bugs I absolutely love this unit. so far in the last few days I have done the following...

Installed Tasker app

When the Android starts and power on I get Tasker to say Android On. That way I know when the unit is up and ready from startup.
I also start Car Home Ultra using tasker on power up - This allows me to be ready on the home screen as soon as I flick over.
On my phone I have tasker as well. When it detects the bluetooth connection it coes into car mode and says car mode on the phone. That way I know its got a bluetooth connection. It then turns on wireless tethering.
Now my pad detects the wireless connection and announces wireless connected. That way I know it has internet link now to my phone.
When I am driving I sometimes have traffic build up just after a turn off that I can take to avoid it. - I now get tasker to check my GPS and announce check traffic and bring up google navigation so I can see google traffic to see if the road ahead is busy before my turn off. I looks so cool with satelitte overlay.

- Still looking for more tasker things to do - this app is awesome.

Car Tunes Beta
This is a simple player but is so easy to use while driving. This is why I want the mic to work - it also plays tracks based on voice requests. And uses gestures to play/move forward etc.

Project M Music Visualizer
If you like music visualisation this is the best.

I have been working on getting a Car PC for a looong time and this thing has huge potential.

Sounds interesting I'll have a look at that. Been looking for an app to start Torque when the wireless connection is established.

Oh, thanks for the confirmation about the camera. I agree despite the bugs it’s still a good unit but I can’t help thinking if it worked as I'd hoped it be one of the best units on the market, if not the best.

So as it looks like a few of you have started looking at or have installed camera systems.

Can anybody tell me what camera's you've gone for front and or back?

Personally, I've sorted the reverse camera already cheap £14 version designed for my car off eBay shipped direct from China. Fits in the hole and replaces one of the existing number plate lights. Works very although, due to the positioning and the way my car throws up dirt the camera lens can get dirty over a couple of weeks.

I’m struggling to find a good quality front bullet camera with basic night vision (9 or more IR - Led’s)
Ideally I’d like more than 420TVL and CCD not CMOS.

So any suggestions?
Gareth

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update for those interested, today I received a invoice from fedex for £35.44 for taxes & service charge on my replacement DM7022 pad . Total cost is now £162.44 which aint cheap for a pad, but on the upside it is a massive improvement on the DM7033 pad was before I dropped it, although with the help of this forum I had just got the old pad running in a acceptable fashion & was showing how well it was now running when I dropped the bloody thing !
Thanks to Mr Cat for bringing the installed tasker app to my attention, I'll look into it, but it sounds great !

Sounds great. Can you share your tasker profiles.

Pretty straight forward these ones.

For Device Boot Message
Create a new Profile called Device Boot
Event - System - device Boot
Add task
Misc - Say - Android On
Engine:Voice pico
Add Display Car Mode
App - Load app - CarHome Ultra

Add Profile Wifi Connected
State - Net _ wifi connected (can take defaults for any wifi or pick one you are connected to)
Add Task
Misc - Say (I make it say why thigh connected as wifi sounds weird)
Engine:voice pico

Add profile Traffic
Location add spot where you want warning (have to be on that spot to register)
Add Task
Misc - Say Traffic
Engine:voice pico
App - Load App - Navigation

Thats on the pad.

On my phone I do the following.

Add Profile Car
State - Net - Bluetooth connected ( you can pick the address with the magnifying glass)
Add Task
Misc - say Car Mode Activated
Engine:voice pico
Net - Wifi Tether on

If you want further details let me know.

Currently working on screen dimming after sunset. This will check what time the sunsets and dims the screen on the pad so its not so bright at night.

Hi Guys,

I'm looking into repairing my DM7022 pad that I damaged by dropping it, I have established that everything is working except the shattered touch screen by plugging in a usb mouse to operate it.
Does anyone know how to seperate the glass digitizer screen from the lcd, I have managed to seperate the complete screen module from the rest of the pad, but I have no idea about digitizer removal / replacement !

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark, complete LCD screen assy with digitizer is only ~ $10 more expensive than spare digitizer. You can purchase it from erisin.com.

If you want to repair existing LCD screen, you need to separate plastic protective cover, broken digitizer and LCD panel. It is not easy to do. I think it is better to let professional technician do it. Normally they use very sharp knife and sometimes heater to soften the glue. And at the end new screen will be thicker because you can`t remove one plastic layer of the broken digitizer as it is glued to the front plastic panel on whole surface.

Another thing is digitizer pinout. It has only 4-wire cable, but pinout of the cable may be different and you may need to cut piece of old cable and solder it to the new one with right order of wires.
