Trying to Identify Kernel, Possible Overclocking Possibilities for DM7022 Radio

Hi all. Mark I have es666. Please share how you ordered. How do you pay for. Where do you send. Is there a duty to Europe. Thanks

Hi vencitaxi, Dober den !

I contacted erising thru ebays messaging system I had a reply from a lady called cheryl , I told her I needed just the pad DM7033 (faster pad android 2.3) she told me the cost 128gbp, I agreed & she sent me a paypal invoice & I paid via paypal, they probably take other methods too, the good news is the new pad comes with igo which includes Bulgaria.
The email address that I sent payment to is,
Easy Rising (HK) Limited
[email protected]

The ladies names is cheryl, & the email /paypal name is Kwong chan.

If your old DM7022 pad is still in good working order I might be interested in buying it as a back up unit.

I would say the new pad is a big improvement on the older one, the new one has 512 ram and a 1ghz processor.

Good luck & if you want to sell your old pad or need more help just give me a shout.

I was lucky & didn't have to pay import tax,

chow,

Mark

Hi Mark, Super One Click works just fine. Install it on your PC, start it with admin rights, connect your tablet via USB, wait for the driver installation (you may need to download the driver, but may be not), click "ROOT", done.

And don`t forget to enable USB Debugging option otherwise it won`t work.

Hi dyn620,

Thanks again ! , it would not work on my pc but it worked great on my wifes newer laptop.

I have not been able to get my mic working nor google voice. Anyone else have luck?

**UPDATE Spoke to the reseller and he told me to do a test video record - I did and no sound so it looks like mic is stuffed. Very frustrating - thats 2 failures on this unit now.

Hey guys, I just thought I would drop in here...I've been following this thread for a few months now and it has been extremely helpful.

I'm still rocking a DM7022 with the updated 2.1 firmware...

I was wondering if anyone has tried putting the DM7033 rom that posted here a few weeks ago on the DM7022...if not, do you think I would be looking at a brick if I tried it?

My issue is I can't get the market to work at all. Never could...I tried clearing the cache, updating the market app but it always comes back download unsuccessful. I'm thinking gingerbread might run better on it if it would work...

Thanks in advance for any of your help with my noobness....

Hi Guys,

I thought I'd let you know that my new pad shipped with the GPS speed error corrected, so if anyone is thinking of replacing the pad or buying a new complete DM7033 0r the newest model with dvb-t that this is one less thing to worry about.
Hi Fireballer, welcome to the fun !
Sorry to hear of your problems Mr Cat, its very possible that a mobile phone repair centre could repair your microphone problem, of course you shouldn't need to but it might be easier / cheaper than sending the unit back to China !

I would have been stuffed without this thread & forum, but I have managed handle most problems / setbacks thanks to the support given here.
Cheers lads !

Hi Guys,

If I use es file explorer or astro to search for a video file, it asks me if I want to use the inbulit film player, but in my app page there is no films icon, does anyone know how to find it as I would like to place the shortcut icon in my car home ultra dock app.
Thanks in advance,

Mark

The app should be in your apps drawer, it's actually called GALLERY not VIDEO......

Could I get someone who has a DM7033 to check that it records sound ok when they do a video. And has anyone got the voice recognition going?

I opened the PAD to see how hard it would be to replace the Mic...if thats the issue. Not an easy job by the looks.

I unfortunately came to the same conclusion when I opened the unit :(
Whilst it's not impossible, its far more work than I'm willing to undertake.

Hi All,
Found another odd one that I’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks but just haven’t been well enough or had the time to post. So here goes…

Has anybody connected a reversing camera to the ES777? When I do I’ve found the weirdest thing… irrespective of the power signal going to the green reverse line into the main head unit the reversing video switches on whenever it detects a video signal.

My testing:
  1. Connect the camera to permanent power (not the reverse light but direct to power source)
  2. Make sure the green reverse gear connector is disconnected. (My interpretation of this wire and what I believe I’ve proven through my testing. Is that it’s just a video source select based on the application of power e.g. +12V, it switches the video source whenever +12V is applied and back again when its removed)
  3. Make sure you haven’t connected the video input from the camera (you’ll see why soon)
  4. Turn car power on, Allow pad to power up. Select Radio.
  5. Now apply a separate power source to the green reverse gear connector and the unit should switch to a blue reverse camera screen saying “no video signal”.
  6. Disconnect the power to the green reverse connector and the unit switches back to show the radio screen.
Now here comes my error:
  1. Connect the video feed from the camera and the main head unit switches straight to the reverse video display. Showing the Reverse Camera feed. Even though the green reverse connector has no power. Supplying +12V power equally does nothing.
  2. The only way to remove the reverse video screen is to disconnect the video feed.
I’ve tried three different cameras and all do this. Simply put the unit ignores the green reverse connect input and permanently displays the reverse camera feed whenever it senses the video signal. I’ve tried different ways of supplying a ground connection back to the battery and I’ve also removed the ground pins on the video cable; all had no effect.

Whilst this isn’t that difficult to work around, (I’m just powering my camera temporarily from the reverse light so it only has power and hence a video signal when reversing). It doesn’t help my long term plan to have my front and back cameras fed into a single screen splitter (already tested and working just like a CCTV splitter/selector) and then have single switch to supply power to the reverse connector to display the camera signal.

Again, I could hook something up with the aux video input but that stops the radio working etc so I wouldn’t be able to view the cameras whilst listening to the radio or pad.

So the question is hopefully simply is this another firmware fault, manufacturing fault with the hardware or do I have a faulty unit?
As ever your views and comments are most welcome.

Hi Blankers,

Thanks for the info, I'd noticed that gallery had the same icon but had presumed that it was for photos !

Hi Mr Cat,

I tested my microphone on my DM7033 PAD (ES777) for you, While using the camcorder the microphone recorded at a very very low level, it was barely audable, so I would presume that either all of them are faulty or in the camcorder software the mic gain is set too low.
Im sorry to hear that its not a easy job to replace the mic, I had seen a guy do one on a phone which was easy, so I was hoping it would be similar for our pads.

Hi Gareth,

I have a rear camera, but I havent fitted it yet, my needs are a bit simpler than yours, am I correct in thinking that If I connect the camera live to the reversing light live & disregard the green wire, & connect the camera output to reversing camera in, will the rear camera override other functions only when I engage reverse ?

I can only really speak about the camera's I've tried but 95% of the ones I've seen online all appear to work the same way. They tend to have three wires and connect in the way you describe…

Red +12v feed from camera to +12v side of reverse light power line (check with a meter that you get +12v when the light is on and only when it’s on).

Ground/negative: You could just connected to the nearest bear metal screw straight to the bodywork or if your happy to cut/join in to the ground wire on the revers light you could connect to that. It’s again worth testing as I found as long as the yellow video lead is connected my camera used this as ground and grounded to the head unit. So I actually didn’t need to supply anything other than red +12V and video but I’m paranoid and as I’d put the extra cables in I connected the negative/ground to the wire I’d put in that went back to the battery.

Have a look at this link for a typical wiring diagram and connection description. The monitor would be the head unit in the diagram.

*looks like the forum is censoring my link* you'll need to rebuild it below. (Forum admin's Sorry Delete the link if this isn’t allowed and I'll put the image on my website)

Although, I should say that its best to test it all before you spend a long time routing extra cables through the car as I did, only to find out when you go to connect it all up that you only required the video lead and the power and ground could simple have come from the reverse light

Also I don’t know if my unit it broken or if they all ignore the green reverse connector, in favor of switching source whenever it senses a video signal. (I do find it strange that it would work this way. No other head unit I’ve had in the past works like this. I've always had to use the reverse switch connector before).

hope that helps. I'm hopeful I'll be well enough to fit my front camera this weekend. If I am I'll photo graph my connections and setup whilst the units all out.

Hi All,
I don’t know why I keep finding oddities with this unit or maybe I’m expecting too much from what is just a cheap bit of kit.

One of my additional reasons for buying the ES777 was the ability to plug in a USB 3G dongle & USB hub and despite checking with support and being told before brought the unit… “The device full supports the ability to plug in a USB hub and a keyboard and or a mouse plus a 3G dongle.“ So simply put three devices at once, one of which being the hub.

Well I can report that whilst this is technically true. It’s appears that the truth is all in your interpretation of their English and the word unit . Its appears on my unit at least that its only true when you plug the hub into the pad and not the USB port on the back of the unit. In fact if you connect a USB hub to the back of the unit you’ll probably cause the main unit to crash but not fully e.g. the screen stops responding or runs extremely slow (takes 2 minutes or longer to swap from radio to the main unit menu etc). Also the touch display only works 1 out of 10 times. Something that took me a while to diagnose as I’d made multiple changes to my setup and hadn’t discovered this issues until it was all plugged back in leading me to think I’d killed my unit somehow :(.

Whilst it isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I do find it very frustrating as I’d spent hours routing cables and building extra fascia’s to make the install look as good as I possibly could. Only to now be faced with not having the USB hub connected permanently and the hassle that entails or modifying the fascia to allow the micro USB lead to come out the front and plug in to the tablet.

Oh, it also looks like plugging anything other than a USB pen drive into the main unit looks to cause it to hang randomly. I’ve tried a selection of USB hard drives and when it’s not crashing it looks to lock the playing mode to USB and I can’t swap back to anything other than PAD mode until the device is unplugged.

So yet again I find myself asking “Is it my unit or has anybody else had these or similar issues?”
