In your position i will stay with the stock rom. I took my choice and starting experimenting with this roms above (tweaks included). I lost my camera forever, neither of the roms returned it back to life (and if coby doesnt release the firmware or and update i probably lost it forever). The most close thing to the stock rom is the haipad release 022, everything is working except camera. Is a pity because when you run a Gingerbread rom you realize the real potential of this tablet, is much faster and reliable, but unserious companies like coby with a disgusting technical support and poor development dont care about costumers just to sell their product ( i sent them an email one month ago asking the possibility of an update or firmware release, no answer yet)

in my case everything works including camera... the only thing different with bulldog is my bootloader and logo is still the original coby's. i'm using tilegs script so its not erasing the bootloader and logo.

i hope somebody can provided us a way to get the bootloader from the 7024 so we can test.

the only thing not really working in gingerbread rom 506 and 519 i tried is the volume hardbutton..everything else works including camera (provided you change utscript)

@bulldog
thanks for the tip about the supercharger.

yea i tried the diffrent utscript. it would go through all the motions. but the rom would still be the same. are you flashing the internal sd card to update?

New update

This last one 0705 fixes the gsensor issues in games. There is an option in advanced settings that lets you change if you want the gsensor to act as "PAD" or "PHONE"

Fixes my problem with x-plane and others.

PS: If you install it as is, the touchscreen doesn't even respond, but the kernel is usable in your mix of roms.

See U.

Any clues about why in some kyros 7024 with modded roms, camera works and in others not? Did coby used a differente hardware in the same model (i will not surprised, WORST SUPPORT EVER, a SCAM of support service). I have lost my camera since flashed the stock rom. Actually it was useless, but i have been trying a skype version that could work if the camera work.

My guess is that, when flashing other firmwares on the 7024, the module responsible for the camera is being overwritten, or at least being deactivated, depending on the firmware used.

Since the day I've bricked and then restored back my 7024 (huge amnounts of kudos for zentsang & BULLDOGG), I've began disassembling several firmwares found here and analyzing the config files and directory structures, but haven't had any success yet. I'm not the best at that kind of investigation, far from that, but I really hope to find some evidence that backs up my claims...

I believe that to keep the camera working you need to use tileg's utscript found here: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...s-7024-gingerbread-firmware-13.html#post97893

If you install a custom rom even once without this script, you can kiss your camera goodbye. The reason is explained in the previous post by criscroc. Our only hope is if Coby decides to hand out a firmware update on their site and even at that, some people say that might not be enough.

i already shared my firmware that use's tilegs utscript. its a modified c8lean version 0.4 aka 322 using the original kyros utmodules and s3-button script. i posted here. my camera still works..actually everything works

I tried your firmware, but it wasn't able to fix my camera. Guess I'll have to return to my firmware tinkering... but I thank you for sharing your effort. ;)

Thanks flxms, but it doesnt fix mine either. I have tried all roms available and tips but i think my camera is history. Only hope is coby releasing the original firmware (thats precisely the reason i suspect that coby is using differents parts in the same tablet model, for some of us it works and others dont)

flxrms, would would it be possible for you to use a terminal or adb shell to check what modules are being used with lsmod? and maybe a full dmesg log to see how the camera initialises? I'm not very knowledgeable in how these things work, but I'm guessing that there could be some interesting information?

I just turned on my tablet and opened my Netflix app and I'm getting a message that there's an updated version. Anyone know where I can get the updated version. (Beyond 1.2.2 build 874851-1.2.0-47) XDA-Developers haven't updated their site with the new version yet.

edit: The new version is 1.3.0 and it was updated July 20, 2011.

Reading my 7024's dmesg dump, I seen an init parameter passed to the kernel telling it to initialize an GC0308 camera, and apparently it does initialize it...

Below are the parts os the dmesg that tells this information...

[ 0.000000] Kernel command line: ubi.mtd=4 root=ubi0:rootfs rootfstype=ubifs init=/init console=ttySAC0,115200 lcd=ut7gm camera=gc0308 mod=5 bltype=p
[ 0.000000] select_camera_name: str=gc0308

[...]

[ 0.904527] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
[ 0.907465] GC0308 1-0021: gc0308 has been probed
[ 0.907534] GC0308 1-0021: fetching platform data
[ 0.909690] GC0308 1-0021: parallel mode

So, as I haven't found any other clue on my dmesg who told me there's another kind of video capture hardware on my 7024, I am led to believe that the camera really is an GC0308 and that the problem may not be modules, but some config.

EDIT: Oh, and among the modules loaded on my 7024, there's not a module whose name seems related to the GC0308.

First got a 7024 on amazon and then was enticed to purchase a 'better' tablet from haipad, the M7++. Same processor, same speed but with extras. I got teenagers I can pass off my old stuff to. I give them stuff. They give me attitude...

I ran that benchmark with the bunny rabbit on the front of it and came up with pretty much the same numbers for both tablets. That figures. That makes sense but I thought the haipad would do better in the '3D test' but it was the same. Hmmm.

I got the M7++ from Hongkong and it came with BT, touch, 8MB nand and froyo. I saw on various websites that they were selling froyo and gingerbread. Hmmm where is that upgrade hiding...

I wrote an email to the haipad factory and they responded almost immediately. They pointed me to a spot where I could dnld the gingerbread. Cool ! I installed it and it looked like every thing was flowing right but then it didn't work. Arrgghh. It would boot all of the way up but then NOT take any input ( button/screen )... Did I get the wrong memory size/model ? ? ?

I searched the web... I came to Australia. Here is the REALLY important link. Official ANDROID 2.3 Firmware
FIRMWARE
http://apads.com.au/downloads/firmware/M7/m7++2.3June08.rar

When I used their rom and their instructions, it worked. Thank you, thank you apad.com

Now I found out there is a ginger plus. Android 2.3.4 Mediascanner Scan External SD. Updated GPU und the most drivers. Compass Works now. Google Talk VIdeo Chat ( the really big thing ) Now where is that 2.3.4 hiding ? ? ?

Hey, did you installed it in M7++ right? This works properly on Kyros 7024?
