Kinpad I600 7" Capacitive, Phone 3G GPS Wifi HDMI 2.2

Two things that bother me a bit are the first is when I plug in the power and let the i600 charge it shuts itself off causing me to miss text messages and emails. The other issue is when making a call the screen turns off to save power so I then have to push the power button to wake up the screen then I have to use the unlock slider to hang up or to make another call. Anyone have ideas on this? The only way to stop the phone from going in to power saving is to dial your call and when it connects press the dial pad button.

No I don't get the problem when charging either.

I don't use the kinpad as a phone either but am thinking of getting a bluetooth earpiece. Are you using it thru the speakers?

Thanks for the heads-up on Dolphin HD - these guys are on the case aren't they!

I figured out that I was holding the power button in too long. If you just slightley tap it once it will show the lock screen. I am using this device as a phone and I love it this thing is freaking awsome. Im using the speaker at the moment but I have a boom type bluetooth headset coming in the mail that I purchased from chinavasion they have two types....one can record comversations the other is just a headset. I dont care for the small bluetooth devices because the volume is to low and sometimes ppl cant hear me speak thats wy I purchased the boom mic bluetooth. If anyone is using the default browser download dolphin hd off the market it is the best browser out there it is like sitting in front of your computer.

I dont see the big deal with the gps it works great. I downloaded a free app off the market called gps status & tools I went outside waited for gps data it took a little bit but it found several sats went into googlemaps and it shows my location and I can also get directions if needed. I have not tried any other software with it yet ....I may give it a try but my car gps is a whole lot better. This is not a replacement or perminent solution but hey if your lost or need to find an address your gps doesnt locate....it will get you home.

A question to other kinpad owners. I want to know if others have low wireless lan signal or it maybe my router.Im only getting 1 maybe 2 bars unless I get right next to the router then I get full wireless signal. Im also getting wireless gaps in the network signal but all three of my laptops which are b & n are getting above average connection status with no gaps. Does the kinpad use g signal? I have also tried different channels and fragmentation settings with the same result.

It should be A,B,G for wireless. I have a N router at home in my living room so I have good coverage throughout the house. The wireless antenna in the Kinpad may not be as long as say a laptop antenna. I have not seen gaps in my reception but have seen occasionally lower signal strength than other devices. I have not had any performance issues. Is your Access Point in a central location?

Yes, like you it is installed central in my living room about shoulder high. I had the router set at 20-40 mhz I changed that setting to 20mhz and the signal increased a bit but nothing to rave over. Im getting little better performance now. Im going to add two 16db boosting antennas and see if it gets any better.

My router is selecting g as the perfered connection method and is connecting right around 36mbps. If I change to b it connects at 12 to 15mbps. The device seems to have very low signal eventhough my laptops show strong signal quality. I hope the 16db boosters work if not I guess Ill be upgrading to a cisco access point.

I am tring to remove selective applications from start up with limited results. I do not know much about android os yet so Im using startup manager app off of the market but It will only remove some of the apps from startup. I have already tried application setting clear default but that dosent work because clear default is not able to be selected. (Grayed out) some of the apps on the kinpad I do not want to use like the IMchat app. If anyone here knows how to remove applications manually......the information would really help.

Thanks in advance.

If you use Titanium backup you can uninstall system or pre-configured applications after you root your device. You can root with z4root also super1click root works as well. Root device first then use Titanium backup to remove unwanted applications. I uninstalled IMichat with no problems but be careful removing some systems applications can have ill effects.

Has anyone tried playing h.264/MKV files as I still can't get any sound with mine; tried all sorts of things including RockPlayer (Galaxy S version) and MPlayer? Thanks

eprom101, Orson and tobyw01, Although this forum is viewed 11.000 times so far, I assume you are the only people who actually own the device. So, a detailled review from your side is much appriciated for who would like to buy Kinpad.

Could we alloborate on GPS (A-GPS), wireless reception & HD video play issues? These topics are the top priorities for many people who will decide to buy Kinpad or something else different.

Has any one had problems with their Kinpad freezing up and requiring a reboot? For me it happens while surfing the web.

Besides that issue everything is running great.

MD

I had that issue with random freezing I reloaded the upgrade.swan and all seems ok for now. I think some of the apps I had installed were messing with the operations. It got to a point where it was rebooting by itself!:confused::confused:

Not getting to crazy with it though dont want to screw with the rom. rooted with 1click.........nice! Thanks again for the help. Oh,,,that case I bought came in today I was kind of disappointed it fits tightly but not very well not really what I wanted but at least I have some protection now. The screen protection worked great.

Unfortunately I'm traveling right now and my access to the internet is limited. I also had to wipe my device, so I wouldn't be the best candidate. I'll gladly do a write up at the end of the month when I get home.;)
